The Muir woods tour was very interesting. Sausalito was an interesting quant town.
Truely awe inspiring to see the giant redwoods and imagine what it was like when the area was covered in them. The trip is operated by Tower Tours, who have the only tour of 1½ hours duration in the Muir Woods according to the driver. This gives you the chance to go as far as The Cathedral at a leisurely and photo-snapping pace and still get back in time for the rest of the tour.
Sausalito is quaint and the Ferry Boat return wraps up an enjoyable day.
Give Lappert's Ice Cream a try while you're in Sausalito. Home made and very tasty.
The tourguide was really helpful. He could tel us a lot of things about the Woods and the old trees.
I would have had more time in the park to do a longer hike.
Our driver was amusing if a little negative. I loved Muir Woods although the rest of the group couldn't wait to get back to the bus and the driver made it quite clear he would leave bang on time with or without us. Afterwards we were taken to Sausalito where I was the only person who got off and used my ferry ticket back - everyone else preferred to go back by bus. It was such a lovely day - perfect for the ferry. In hindsight I could have organised this myself - I didn't feel the company really added anything to the experience.
We couldn't understand the bus driver/ tour guide. He kept talking non stop but most of what he said was unintelligible. Muir Woods was beautiful. We got to Sausalito later than expected and so that was a disappointment as well. Don't think we will book a tour with that tour agency again.
