We went on this tour in October with Randy who was an excellent guide: informative and interesting, but didn't talk all the time... We had a good length of time in Monterey, with the 17-mile drive the highlight. The coach was new and very comfortable, there is a lot of driving given the distance, but Grayline made it a very pleasurable experience with plenty well-chosen stops.
An excellent trip with a very informative guide, Doug, who entertained us throughout the day. If you have read John Steinbeck ,Cannery Row, Monterey will bring the book to life with a lovely statue of the characters in the town. We stopped for a couple of hours for lunch in Monterey and the recommendations given were excellent. I went to the large fish restaurant overlooking the beach and watched seals basking in the glorious sunshine as I ate a magnificent plate of fish and chips and a couple of glasses of Napa Valley Merlot. I did not spot any Otters but I am sure they were out there somewhere probably people watching. We then travelled further around Ben Sur, the 17 mile drive around Pebble Beach and Del Monte Forest, seeing all the mansions and having time to photo some of the many beautiful sights of the sea and watching the ardent golfers take their shots. Finally we reached Carmel by the sea, a beautiful resort. The only downside of the trip was that we only had one hour in Carmel which did not do it justice as there was insufficient time to explore the beach as well as the superb shops. It was a long day but a well worthwhile trip and a lovely opportunity to see a lovely part of California. Would recommend this trip, a great day with a lovely guide who dropped us all off at our respective hotels. Nothing was too much trouble.
This is a wonderful tour, our tour guide was excellent. The only complaint that I have is the inability of the tour guide to drive us through Carmel by the sea, the distance from our drop off point was too long and steep for us to walk there, but we still enjoyed the tour immensely.
Wonderful tour guide Randy knew SO MUCH about the entire area! He told us ahead of time when special photo opportunities were coming up! He also gave us details of how to make our way at the sites, and allowed plenty of time for touring/eating/bathroom breaks. GREAT TOUR! Pebble Beach had been on our bucket list for a LONG time, and NOW WE HAVE BEEN THERE! Thank you!

Be ready for a long day, but we enjoyed it very much. We had considered renting a car and doing this ourselves, but I'm so glad that we did it this way. The coastline is beautiful, and our bus driver was very knowledgeable about the area - and pointed out so much about the agricultural areas. We had well timed rest and photo stops. Monterey, Pebble Beach, the 17 mile drive - all beautiful. I really liked learning about Carmel - so many interesting 'rules' in that city. It is a beautiful area. On the way back to SF, we saw the flames of a terrible fire in the Loma Prieta area. so much information would have been missed had we chosen to drive ourselves
We really enjoyed this tour.
Everything was perfect! Our driver (Randy) was very knowledgeable and helpful throughout the day.
We would highly recommend this tour. It and #39;s a great value for the price.
The tour was very good. The driver being also the guide was very knowledgably and engaging with the people on the bus. He shared his knowledge in a very entreating way and I feel I learned a lot about this magnificent part of California. He would keep an eye on landmarks / interesting things coming to the left and right of the road and would point them to us. We also stopped several times in specific areas to take photos and a closer look on particularly nice costal areas. The stops for lunch in Monterrey and for dinner in Carmel were also sufficient to have a very nice meal in one of numerous local restros / cafes and to have a stroll and look around the driver made several very good recommendations for food and for where to have a stroll. The bus was full and people clearly enjoyed the trip. Lidia
This was a great tour with a wonderful guide who gave us loads of info and was really funny too!
realy enjoyed our trip, would like to have a longer stay in Carmel. Please, no longer use the light house as a bathroom stop!!!!!
Excellente service. The driver was well informed of the places we visited.
this is a lovely trip and I had a thoroughly great time. Here again the guides unclear English made it difficult to understand details.
It is a long day, but the views going down the Pacific coast and on 17-mile drive are excellent. In Monterey I only visited the aquarium, but this had a good selection of wildlife well displayed. Carmel is very tidy and neat. The driver was entertaining throughout.
This was an awesome trip, the driver Randy was great, he was very informative about the tour, loved going to Monterey and Carmel, especially the shopping and the resturants, the scenery along the coastline was spectacular!!!!
Great tour. loved the scenery and the Monterey aquarium.
There was a mix up in communications regarding my pick-up, so I ended up having to catch and cab to get to the office.
I enjoyed the stops along the way to Monterey. The bus driver was very pleasant and made the ride interesting. Little disappointed in the stop in Carmel as the stores were closing early since it was a Sunday.
Beautiful tour! Loved the tour guide - very informative and fun. The bus was comfortable and stops along the way were well thought out and they played fun movies/music on the way home!
What a wonderful day !! Anyone visiting San Fran must go on this. The views along the coast, stunning. Then to beautiful montaray and carmel. World and #39;s apart from the city. The 17 mile drive was also stunning. The staff super friendly, made it a really enjoyable and fun day. Loved it !
We enjoyed this: a wealth of information, an excellent guide, a good bus and numerous beautiful sites en route. A long, but nevertheless thoroughly relaxing day. We had opted for the visit of the Aquarium in Monterey and would do this again - not cheap, but most impressive, rounding off the wildlife-theme that was part of the trip.
