Make your way to the San Francisco Ferry Building and catch a ferry (weekdays) or a bus (weekends) across the bay to Vallejo. From here, climb aboard a shuttle and drive up to Napa.
Once you reach downtown Napa, board the Napa Valley Wine Train and get settled in your seat as it chugs forth into the scenic countryside. Watch out the window as the hilly vineyards roll by or spend some time exploring the interior of the painstakingly-restored antique train.
Enjoy lunch from the critically-acclaimed restaurant onboard, which uses fresh, seasonal ingredients that are locally-sourced. (See below for sample menu.)

At the end of your 5-hour train ride and wine tasting excursion in Napa, you will return to San Francisco.
Valley First Tour:
Board a coach in downtown Napa at 10am and head straight to Raymond Vineyards for a 1.5-hour winery tour and tasting. On the way, enjoy views of Napa Valley’s less-developed east side as you travel along the Silverado Trail.
Arriving at the winery, begin with an introduction to the winery's history and organic farming practices, and then take a guided stroll between the rows of vines while learning about the biodynamic grapes -- those grown without the use of pesticides and artificial chemicals.
Sip a variety of wines in the tasting room while chatting with the sommelier, and then explore the extensive production space to see the machinery and facilities involved in the crushing, fermentation, bottling and storage of wine. You'll have an opportunity to purchase some of Raymond's wines if you wish.
You'll be taken to the train station in the afternoon. Sit back and relax with a complimentary glass of wine and enjoy the views as you ride north to the quaint town of St Helena. Savor your 3-course meal in the dining car and enjoy a cocktail or glass of wine from the bar (own expense) as you pass through Oakville, Rutherford and Yountville, home to The French Laundry, Thomas Keller’s highly acclaimed restaurant. Arrive back in Napa in the afternoon. Grgich Hills Tour:
After boarding the train at 10:50am, you'll be served your meal in the Petite Gourmet Car. Admire views of Napa Valley as you enjoy your appetizer and main course.
Travel north to Rutherford and disembark at Grgich Hills Estate for a 1-hour private tour and tasting. This award-winning family-owned winery also grows biodynamic grapes, which you'll learn about on your guided walk around the vineyards. Then, get a behind-the-scenes look at the cellar and enjoy a private tasting with a wine educator. You may even get to meet Mike Grgich himself!
After your tour, hop on the train again and head to the lounge car for dessert and coffee. The remaining hour of your trip can be spent relaxing with your fellow travelers or exploring the rest of the train. Arrive in downtown Napa around 2:30pm.Ambassador Tour:
Before you board the train around 11am, begin with an educational wine seminar at the Napa train station. Learn about wine culture in Napa Valley from a wine educator, who'll answer any questions you have. Enjoy lunch in the Petite Gourmet Car right after you board. As you eat, marvel at the beautiful western side of Napa Valley and then head to the lounge car for coffee and dessert.
Hop off the train in ST. Helena and then board a luxury coach for a ride to Charles Krug Winery Napa Valley's oldest winery, Charles Krug Winery, owned by Peter Mondavi and family. Charles Krug has beautiful grounds and a history dating back to 1861.
After they visit Krug Winery, Guests will enjoy an additional 1-hour tour and tasting. Raymond Vineyards, where you'll take a 1-hour winery tour followed by a tasting. Explore Raymond's winemaking facilities and taste wine directly from the barrel. End with an exclusive tasting of select Raymond Reserve and Small Lot series red and white wines. Sample Menu
