Make your way to the San Francisco Ferry Building and catch a ferry (weekdays) or a bus (weekends) across the bay to Vallejo. From here, climb aboard a shuttle and drive up to Napa.
Once you reach downtown Napa, board the Napa Valley Wine Train and get settled in your seat as it chugs forth into the scenic countryside. Watch out the window as the hilly vineyards roll by or spend some time exploring the interior of the painstakingly-restored antique train.
Enjoy lunch from the critically-acclaimed restaurant onboard, which uses fresh, seasonal ingredients that are locally-sourced. (See below for sample menu.)
Pick from three different itineraries, listed below. All transfers and tastings are included in this tour, and you must check in a half hour prior to your departure.
At the end of your 5-hour train ride and wine tasting excursion in Napa, you will return to San Francisco.
The train was great. The food was excellent. BUT THE SERVER? About as 5 star as it gets. What GREAT service. Made the entire trip and well spent time. Should have done this sooner.
This was such a wonderful tour for my bday! The train, the food and amazing staff. Then the winery ...wow. Amazing vino and grounds.
Excellent from beginning to end. Our bus driver made the tour...the fires broke out that evening so sad as he was from Santa Rosa..hope he and the family were fine.
amazing excursion there is nothing we would change great crew on train and informative
Excellent! I am glad I did not miss it.
A must if staying in San Francisco the trains just beutliful
This tour was well worth it. The food on the train was absolutely phenomenal. The service and staff were exceptional as well. We enjoyed the vineyard and wine tasting. Found it to be informational. It was worth every penny.
Traveling with my brother, his wife, and my sister, we thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Napa Valley on the Wine Train. The ferry ride was pleasant. The shuttle to the train station was very comfortable, the driver's narrative was informative and interesting. The wait for the train departure was fairly brief. Boarding was well orchestrated. The dining car was very nice, the tables were pretty close together, but the menu choices offered something for everyone. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. We toured the Grgich Winery. Again, very pleasant, the guide was informative, and the history of the award winning winery interesting! Our tastings were a nice variety of wines. We enjoyed dessert after re-boarding the train. We had over an hour to wait for the return to the ferry, but enjoyed exploring the nearby Oxbow Market. It was a full day, but informative, well orchestrated and fun! A good way to see Napa and taste the wines!
Was a very good tour! Never seemed rushed even though there was a set agenda. The Raymond Vineyard and gourmet lunch on the train was awesome!
Really enjoyed the tour. Raymond winery is green, and it was interesting on how they use animals, insects and plants to create a green environment. The lunch on the train was also very enjoyable.
