Why Our Insiders Chose This Tour

What You Can Expect

Napa and Sonoma Wine Country Tour

Napa Valley, Califormia

Let your guide handle the driving and relax as you sip your way through California’s wine country. After morning pickup at your San Francisco hotel, settle into a luxury coach equipped with onboard amenities including a restroom, reclining seats, and Wi-Fi. Hear tales of Spanish missionaries and Gold Rush fortune seekers from your guide as you cruise across the Golden Gate Bridge and through the rolling green hills and pastures of Sonoma Valley.

Your first stop is the family-run Nicholson Ranch Winery, a villa-like estate nestled in the southern foothills of Sonoma. Taste fantastic chardonnay, pinot noir and merlot varietals while savoring views of gently sloping vineyards from the patio. Continue on to the world-famous Napa Valley for a tour and tasting at Madonna Estate, a family-run winery that produces organic wines in the acclaimed Carneros winemaking region.

Indulge your appetite with a stop for lunch (own expense) at Sonoma Square Plaza, one of the largest plazas in California, and pick from multiple charming restaurants.

Next, it’s time for more wine at Sutter Home, your final stop of the day. Sip different varietals in the tasting room while learning how this Napa Valley classic grew from a small, family-run operation in the late 1800s to one of the most recognized winemaking names in the United States.

Back on the coach, savor the late afternoon sun and your wine-induced glow on the return drive to San Francisco, where your tour concludes in Union Square.

This tour was great! The wine selections were very good. Would have liked to have spent a half hour more at Jacuzzi since they also have olive oil and balsamic tastings, but otherwise I have no complaints.

If you want a trouble free trip into the Napa and Sonoma areas, experience some wine tasting, and visit some outstanding wineries then this may be the tour for you. The tour bus driver was full of information and kept us entertained the entire trip. He provided wonderful tips on the types of wines, places to eat while in Senoma, and just interesting facts about the area. By the time you buy gas, pay for three wine tastings, hassle the traffic you can instead ride in the comfort of a beautiful tour bus and enjoy the day for a much less price than doing it yourself. I highly recommend this tour.

Our Driver Tom McDonagh was tremendous, he was a masterful historian who really went out of his way to point everything out , he gave a very in-depth tutorial history of San Francisco and wine country. He went out of his way to learn the identity of all the passengers on board. I have been on a lot of tours in my life, and have met a lot of tour guides but this gut was an exception and a credit to the San Francisco tourist industry.

This was an excellent tour of Sonoma and Napa. Our driver was a fountain of information about San Francisco and wine in general and all three vineyards were charming. Plenty of wine tasting was featured and the mid-day stop for lunch was noteworthy as well. Highly recommended.

Great tour! My parents aren't wine drinkers but they enjoyed this activity and the beautiful wineries. Our favorite is the Nicholson Ranch for its picturesque landscapes and exquisite wines. The place is perfect for an opening salvo!

There were minor alterations though in the destinations that were not in the initial tour description. Tour info said the wineries would be Nicholson Ranch, Madonna Estate, and Sutter Home. But we were brought to Nicolson Ranch, Madonna Estate, and Jacuzzi. But I'd l say, I LOVED JACUZZI! We were also expecting to see Yountville because it was the only lunch destination initially indicated in the tour details, but we were brought to Oxbow. I checked now and saw that Oxbow is already an option for lunch which, wasn't a bad alternative all. We were taken to a public market were we could choose from a wide selection of food stalls. It did not disappoint! While Yountville might be great on pictures, Oxbow market offers a more affordable food options.

This is a good deal especially that fees for wine samples are already included in the package! We're able to try a good number/variety of wines.

I would also like to commend our driver sorry I forgot his name! I am not sure if it was Greg or Gary, he has a younger brother who also drives for Gray Line Tours. All I remember was both their names start with G. Anyway, our driver is a total pro! He shared so many interesting information and trivia about SF city and California's wine industry. We learned so much from him more than the city tour we had the day before.

I highly recommend this tour!
