Why Travelers Choose This Tour

“Combination” with this experience means Alcatraz and a city Segway tour on separate days.
Alcatraz Island Tour On your first day, make your way to Pier 33 and board the ferry to Alcatraz Island at your selected departure time. The quick ride across San Francisco Bay takes you past the city skyline and Golden Gate Bridge to Alcatraz. Your admission ticket guarantees access to the former federal penitentiary, now part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.

On arrival, take a spellbinding audio tour of the cellblock, and listen to narration of a storied past enhanced by sound effects and commentary by former inmates and prison guards. Learn how the infamous prison once housed some of the nation’s most heinous criminals, including Al Capone and James ‘Whitey’ Bulger. Hear about escape attempts made by a number of inmates, and learn if anyone succeeded in leaving the fortified island.

Explore the compound at your own pace and return to the city whenever you wish; ferries depart roughly every half hour. You’ll enjoy your city Segway tour of San Francisco the following day, so there’s no rush.

The day after your exploration of Alcatraz, venture onto the streets of San Francisco for a small-group tour of city highlights. At your scheduled departure time, meet your guide at the designated meeting spot near Anchorage Square Shopping Center. After a 30-minute orientation session, set off on your personal transporter. Enjoy plenty of photo stops along with informative commentary on the city’s fascinating history before returning to the pier.

Morning or Afternoon Segway Tour (3 Hours) Take in vistas of the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz from Fisherman’s Wharf. Glide past Ghirardelli Square, world-famous for its chocolate, and see the historic marine vessels at Aquatic Park’s Hyde Street Pier. Your guide points out an authentic San Francisco cable car, the Palace of Fine Arts, and the Marina district.
Stop At:
Alcatraz Island
On your first day, board a ferry at Pier 33 for the 10-minute ride across placid San Francisco Bay toward Alcatraz Island. When you arrive, watch an informative movie about Alcatraz, which once housed some of the nation’s most heinous criminals, including Al Capone and James ‘Whitey’ Bulger. A number of inmates tried to escape the massively fortified island, but no one is known to have succeeded. Take an audio tour of the cellblocks and historic buildings that are a gloomy contrast to the spellbinding views of San Francisco’s skyline in the distance.

Best Alcatraz and Segway tour ever. Everything when to schedule, tickets were there to be picked up at pier 33. Alcatraz walking tour with headphone was amazing . Them first time riding Segway tour was so much fun. Very professional, well inform, plenty of writing time, picture taking, we even went down lumbar Street on the Segway. People were amazed that was even possible. What a wonderful experience. I recommend it to everybody .

I bought the combo because Alcatraz was unavailable for 3 weeks. So, I paid more then I wanted to but was receiving a Segway Tour. Well, Alcatraz was incredible PERIOD. If you come to San Francisco, you must visit 'The Rock'. The next day we showed up for the Segway portion of our package. OMG, what a blast!!!!! My wife was a little reluctant, however after a few minutes of one on one instructions, she was ready to go. Our guide Josh was awesome too! Everything went well at check in for both after booking with Viator.
Extremely Disappointed! - Be wary that you might not have tickets to go to Alcatraz

We had purchased the combo pass with the ferry to Alcatraz on departing at 11:30. It was my 2 daughter's first trip to San Francisco (we live in NY) and they were extremely excited to go to Alcatraz - so much so that after purchasing the tickets, I called to confirm that everything was in order and was assured that it was. When we arrived to the Alcatraz Cruises booth, however, we were informed that City Segway Tours had not provided the manifest of attendees as required and our tickets had been released back to the pool. We were informed that all remaining tickets were sold out and to contact City Segway to see what they could do for us. I called them (repeatedly, leaving several messages). After approximately 30 min of trying to reach them, they finally answered. I explained what happened and was told that they were aware of the situation and that there was nothing they could do other than refund that portion of the combo pass. How does that happen? Per their website, the manifest needs to be provided 4 days before the departure - so no one realized for 4 days? No one could reach out or find additional tickets? All the time and effort to get there, the Uber, the inconvenience, and the best they could do is refund the Alcatraz portion of the ticket? Extremely Disappointed

The Alcatraz tour was great. The City Segway Tour was more than great! My young adult children say that it was one of the highlights of the trip to California for them! Michelle was an awesome guide! I would definitely recommend the Segway Tour!

We had a great time. The segway tour was very stressfree and we enjoyed the scenery. Alcatraz was very interesting and nice except for the weather. Overall we liked the experience quite a lot.

The best part of this package was the Segway ride through the Fisherman's Wharf - Marina area! After a couple of minutes on the Segways, we were comfortable enough to glide down bike paths, along roads, and maneuver between pedestrians and other motorists. It was amazing to have the open air, the sun, and to hear and see everything. Do not be fooled, riding the Segway does work your legs, so be prepared to take breaks to stretch them and give them a rest. I would recommend this tour (and our tour guide, John), to anyone!
