What You Can Expect

San Francisco Super Saver: Muir Woods & Wine Country w/ optional Gourmet Lunch

Wine Country

Muir Woods National Monument tour:
Hotel pickup in San Francisco starts early for the drive north across the Golden Gate Bridge, meaning you’ll reach Muir Woods before many other tours arrive. On your way out of the city, see the Palace of Fine Arts and the Presidio.

Muir Woods National Monument is home to a pristine forest of California coastal redwoods, which are some of the planet’s tallest and oldest trees with heights that can reach 250 feet (76 meters). You have about one hour here to wander through the grove of trees with your guide, who will tell you about the local vegetation and wildlife along the nature trail while you walk over mossy streams. Then return to the tour vehicle for the drive further north into wine country.

Wine country tour:
When you reach your first winery in Sonoma County’s Carneros region, you can explore the grounds, enjoy photo ops of the vineyard and sample a variety of wines in a welcoming atmosphere. For lunch, guests can choose one of two lunch options. The first is to venture out on their own and try one of the many cafés and restaurants located in the plaza. The second option is to upgrade their wine country experience to the next level with a private seated gourmet food and wine pairing experience at a local restaurant. They will enjoy delicious local food paired with a collection of California wines. After being greeted with Sonoma Valley cheeses and sparkling wine, guests may select a course such as tomato bisque, pasta with almond-arugula pesto and grated pecorino romano or grilled salmon with seasonal vegetables and balsamic reduction.

Afterward, continue your tour to your second and third wineries in Sonoma County or Napa County for more tastings. Total time at each winery is about one hour, and you’ll have the chance to taste 3 to 5 wines of different varietals, from white to red to sparkling at each stop. Tasting fees are included, and you may purchase bottles to take home, if you wish. See below for a sample of wineries you may visit.

Your day trip ends with the drive back across the Golden Gate Bridge. Admire views of the vast Pacific and the rugged coastline before hotel drop-off.

This was such a great way to experience wine country in a day! The redwoods and Muir were breathtaking. The drive through the Sonoma and Napa was stunning. We really appreciated the small, family vineyards that we were able to visit in Sonoma. Our driver/guide was amazing - super nice, funny, and a pleasure to be with all day. There are PLENTY of options for lunch in Sonoma Square, but the wine pairing lunch option add-on to the trip was fantastic and made the day worry free! I recommend to anyone that wants to simply relax and get a great overview of wine country while visiting the Bay area!

This was the perfect combination for one day! Muir woods was a surreal magical forest. The Wine country tour was DEFINITELY worth it. The knowledge of the winery owners were amazing and they didn't scrimp on the free samples.

This wine tour was excellent! It included all tastings and we got to go to one winery in Napa, one in Sonoma, and one in Marin. Muir Woods was also a must see, the Redwood trees truly are breathtaking. Well worth the cost and our tour guide Aoko was great! She was very informative and funny and made the tour that much more enjoyable, I highly recommend doing this wine tour.

Loved every single minute of this tour. Our guide Jake was funny and entertaining as well as very knowledgeable of the areas. Muir woods was beautiful, just wish we could've spent more time there. Next we boarded the bus and headed to Sonoma. We stopped at the first winery and I loved it there. It was smaller than other places but very inviting and we got a chance to see a bottling truck. Next we had an amazing lunch at a Mexican restaurant in Sonoma Square. The square was very neat but we unfortunately did not have much time to explore before having to board the bus again. After lunch we visiting a 2nd winery which was not as good as the first but the scenery was amazing! Our next stop was probably my favorite as it had the best wine plus the gorgeous scenery you expect when visiting Napa. The whole day from start to finish was nothing short of amazing and I highly recommend this excursion :

What a day! An amazing trip from start to finish. Our driver/guide Phil was great - funny and informative in equal measures - warm and welcoming throughout.

The Woods were awe inspiring and the wines tasting was very good - we actually bought a few bottles too!

Highly recommend.

Great tour! The three wineries were all very different from each other, each host making it interesting in a different way. The tour guide was knowledgeable and engaging. Muir Woods are a must-see! So glad we chose this option.
