What You Can Expect

San Francisco Super Saver: Muir Woods & Wine Country w/optional Gourmet Lunch

Enjoy wine tasting at three California wineries

Muir Woods National Monument tour:
Hotel pickup in San Francisco starts early for the drive north across the Golden Gate Bridge, meaning you’ll reach Muir Woods before many other tours arrive. On your way out of the city, see the Palace of Fine Arts and the Presidio.

Muir Woods National Monument is home to a pristine forest of California coastal redwoods, which are some of the planet’s tallest and oldest trees with heights that can reach 250 feet (76 meters). You have about one hour here to wander through the grove of trees with your guide, who will tell you about the local vegetation and wildlife along the nature trail while you walk over mossy streams. Then return to the tour vehicle for the drive further north into wine country.

Wine country tour:
When you reach your first winery in Sonoma County’s Carneros region, you can explore the grounds, enjoy photo ops of the vineyard and sample a variety of wines in a welcoming atmosphere. For lunch, guests can choose one of two lunch options. The first is to venture out on their own and try one of the many cafés and restaurants located in the plaza. The second option is to upgrade their wine country experience to the next level with a private seated gourmet food and wine pairing experience at a local restaurant. They will enjoy delicious local food paired with a collection of California wines. After being greeted with Sonoma Valley cheeses and sparkling wine, guests may select a course such as tomato bisque, pasta with almond-arugula pesto and grated pecorino romano or grilled salmon with seasonal vegetables and balsamic reduction.

Afterward, continue your tour to your second and third wineries in Sonoma County or Napa County for more tastings. Total time at each winery is about one hour, and you’ll have the chance to taste five to 10 wines of different varietals, from white to red to sparkling. Tasting fees are included, and you may purchase bottles to take home, if you wish. See below for a sample of wineries you may visit.

Your day trip ends with the drive back across the Golden Gate Bridge. Admire views of the vast Pacific and the rugged coastline before hotel drop-off.

Our family of four had a wonderful trip, it's a lot to experience in one short day and with it starting so early i'd recommend some sort of breakfast pastries/options. Don was a great guide.

Muir Woods was great, wonderful to see the large trees. The wine tour was also wonderful, we loved the Mayo winery the presenter gave us good information on wine. The wine we purchased from Mayo was excellent. We also liked the Cline winery, a much larger winery than Mayo, but a beautiful facility. Wine purchased at Cline was also great. Our guide was awesome.

Great combination of a morning walk through the redwoods, a relaxing picnic lunch in Sonoma and an introduction to wine tasting.

A very beautiful and informative trip. The trip through wine and almond country was so scenic and the wine makers were informative and generous with their wine tasting. The tour driver Vald was a wealth of knowledge and he made certain that we got our dollars worth. We will continue to use Viator as they have proven to be a great tour company.

Great tour. Tour guide, Vilod, was friendly and knowledgeable. An hour is not enough time in Muir Woods, but we knew that from previous reviews. The wineries were lovely, and it was great to be on a smaller tour with less people that the big buses. On the way back, we got an extra stop. We got to look down at the Golden Gate Bridge, before crossing it on our way back. What a great way to see the bridge, before driving across it.
