Why Travelers Choose This Tour

Mark off two Northern California top attractions on this comprehensive day trip to the Sonoma and Napa wine country, with a stroll through not-to-be-missed Muir Woods en route. You'll reach the redwoods before the crowds, maximizing your time in the park.
Muir Woods National Monument tour:
Hotel pickup in San Francisco starts early for the drive north across the Golden Gate Bridge, meaning you’ll reach Muir Woods before many other tours arrive. On your way out of the city, see the Palace of Fine Arts and the Presidio.

Muir Woods National Monument is home to a pristine forest of California coastal redwoods, which are some of the planet’s tallest and oldest trees with heights that can reach 250 feet (76 meters). You have about one hour here to wander through the grove of trees with your guide, who will tell you about the local vegetation and wildlife along the nature trail while you walk over mossy streams. Then return to the tour vehicle for the drive further north into wine country.

Wine country tour:
When you reach your first winery in Sonoma County’s Carneros region, you can explore the grounds, enjoy photo ops of the vineyard and sample a variety of wines in a welcoming atmosphere. For lunch, guests can choose one of two lunch options. The first is to venture out on their own and try one of the many cafés and restaurants located in the plaza. The second option is to upgrade their wine country experience to the next level with a private seated gourmet food and wine pairing experience at a local restaurant. They will enjoy delicious local food paired with a collection of California wines. After being greeted with Sonoma Valley cheeses and sparkling wine, guests may select a course such as tomato bisque, pasta with almond-arugula pesto and grated pecorino romano or grilled salmon with seasonal vegetables and balsamic reduction.

Afterward, continue your tour to your second and third wineries in Sonoma County or Napa County for more tastings. Total time at each winery is about one hour, and you’ll have the chance to taste 3 to 5 wines of different varietals, from white to red to sparkling at each stop. Tasting fees are included, and you may purchase bottles to take home, if you wish. See below for a sample of wineries you may visit.

Your day trip ends with the drive back across the Golden Gate Bridge. Admire views of the vast Pacific and the rugged coastline before hotel drop-off.

We enjoyed this for our first time ever going! Just don't bother with the optional lunch! And the wines were just okay! Wish we could have gone to more wineries or maybe better options! But the time at each place was great the guide travis was great and the weather was amazing!

We did the Extranomical Muir Woods Wine Country tour with Jacob and it was a wonderful experience! Aside from the natural beauty and delicious wines we got to taste, the tour itself was a great way to experience it all over the course of one full day. Jacob was very entertaining and informative at the same time. He contributed to create a good environment where different groups got to talk and know each other a little bit. The only comment I have on the Wine tasting portion of the tour is that all wines in each winery are served in the same glass - it would be nice to at least have some water available to rinse your glass before the next wine is poured. But overall it was a great experience, totally worth it!

What a great trip! We started the morning early, but were able to tackle 3 items on the bucket list--Golden Gate Bridge, Muir Woods, and wine tasting! Kimmy was our tour guide and bus driver. With 30 tourists she drove through the mountains with ease! She was precise in her judgment and holding people accountable. I loved that we were on Kimmy time. She made the slow pokes hurry up and kept all our appointments. She was comical and provided wonderful details in history for the city and Bay area. She was insightful and warm. She loves her job. We saw 2 Sonoma wineries and one in Napa. It was so cool to walk through the vineyard and pluck the grapes from the vines to try. What panoramic views and elevating experiences! Do not miss this.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Muir Woods and Wine Country. Ben was our guide and he was a hoot! He will keep you entertained the whole day. Well worth the money to be able to skip renting a car for the day and we were able to taste many wines without worrying about driving back. Ben even gave us an unexpected bonus drive to stop and get off the bus to view the Golden Gate bridge from a perfect spot.
