What You Can Expect

San Francisco Urban Adventure and Alcatraz Tour

Go on a San Francisco urban adventure!

Find your custom-made, open-air vehicle waiting for you at your hotel or lodging in San Francisco. Climb aboard the safari-style truck, made for urban adventuring, and take off through the city.

Travel the city streets, listening to your guide's commentary, full of insightful and quirky city facts. See Sutro Tower atop Twin Peak and admire the orange art deco towers of the Golden Gate Bridge. Cross through the huge green space of Golden Gate Park and get a taste of the various personalities of the city's diverse neighborhoods. Recognize scenes from some well-known movies, find hidden artwork and discover some secrets unknown to even locals.

Upon completion of your city tour, get dropped off at Pier 33 to catch your ferry to Alcatraz. Get photo ops of the city skyline and Fisherman's Wharf during the 15-minute trip, then listen to a brief history of The Rock before embarking on a self-guided audio tour in the cell blocks. Budget for approximately 2.5 hours following along to the audio tour; listen to documentary-style interviews with former guards and inmates that paint an accurate picture of how the prison ran between 1934 and 1963.

When you've finished exploring the prison and grounds, catch the ferry back to Pier 33 (ferry departs every 30 to 40 minutes).

We had such a great time! We loved that the tour was a small group and customizable to what our group wanted to see, not just to what we were supposed to see while in San Francisco. Loved learning about the different areas and being able to drive through and see just about everything we wanted. We HIGHLY recommend this tour!

My husband and I really enjoyed this tour! Eric knows a lot about the area and was a great tour guide! Saw many wonderful city sites and the Golden Gate Bridge! It is a small group tour which makes it ideal! At the end of his tour he takes you to the ferry for the Alcatraz Tour and makes sure you have the tickets needed.

Highly recommend this fun urban adventure in an awesome little safari type truck. Eric was an amazing guide who took us on an excursion coverin pretty much the entire city. Lunch at Gus's Market was outstanding. Would have liked to stop for pictures in Haight-Ashbury but at least we got to see the area. Ended the morning and early afternoon when Eric dropped us off at the Alcatraz ferry for the rest of our adventure. Highly recommend this tour with Eric!

well worth the money, Rick was full of information very friendly and amiable and took us all over San Francisco. We saw more on this one trip than we would have done by going it alone. We thoroughly enjoyed it and he even got our Alcatraz tickets to save us queueing etc.i have been telling everyone I know to do this

This isn't your regular city sightseeing tour. It's much more interesting and fun! Imagine you are going to be shown the sights by a guide who lives in the city, knows it's neighborhoods, and is willing to alter the itinerary to suit the interests of the 10 or so passengers in his open-sided vehicle. That's what this tour offers.

Eric, the owner/operator, is someone who seems genuinely interested in meeting and interacting with his guests. He obviously loves to show people around SF, and that comes across on the tour. You will see a few things the regular tours won't show you, and have a great time to boot.

Highly recommended!

Had a great time on the SF Urban Adventure and Alcatraz Tour. Eric was a terrific guide. We were able to get to several SF traditional tourist spots, plus several of the SF neighborhood districts. My wife and I highly recommend the tour. Highlight was raising the American Flag at Fort Point under the Golden Gate.

Brilliant. Eric was such a great tour guide. He was super friendly, knew so many facts about San Francisco and was willing to answer any questions. He also was open to where people on the tour wanted to go and see. He would crack some jokes not too cheesy and this made the tour really fun and interesting. What impressed me most was his ability to remember everyone's name I think there was 12 of us and where each and everyone was from. Every time someone new was added to the tour, Eric would introduce everyone again. Provided blankets were also a bonus as at times it was a bit cold. Would highly recommend this tour!

If I could rate this tour more than 5 stars I would. This was, hands down, the best tour we took during our entire stay in San Fran. Eric, our guide, was THE BEST. So witty and funny and very informative. He was engaging and took us to all the right spots and told us neat little tid-bits that most large tour guides would not mention. We had a small group of only 8 people and it was perfect. The surfboard open air truck was great and really allowed us to see everything. We went all over the city and stopped for a great lunch at an open market. I got some wonderful pictures of the city! Last stop was Alcatraz and Eric helped each one of us get our tickets and made sure we were set before he left us. We would have been happy to have him come show us the prison as well! I cannot say enough good things about this tour. It is a little pricey but worth every penny for the personalized service you get. You will not be disappointed.

This was an amazing tour. Eric our guide was fantastic!!! He was so personable and made the whole trip so fun and memorable. He remembered everyone's name and we had a group of 12 so that was impressive. His knowledge was amazing and he made the whole day fun, interesting and very memorable. I would highly recommend this tour and Eric as a tour guide.

Eric is fantastic! You will view and learn about many fabulous areas of SF that a large bus or designated route tour would never get to.
