This was a wonderful tour and the guide was very knowledgeable about wine grapes and all of the wineries we visited.
Each winery was different. Our driver was very knowledgeable. Having a little bit more time to walk around during our lunch break would have been nice. Definitely a great tour if you want to see both Napa and Sonoma in one day.
This was such an awesome trip! I actually believe that our driver Patrick contributed to making this tour so pleasant and unforgetable.
Absolutely fantastic - Sylvio sorry if I have spelt this wrong was terrific had us in stiches. Knew an awful lot about the region and about wine in general and made the tour very enjoyable.. The Aussie Girls
We had a great time on our tour, starting with a hotel pickup - so convenient! The driver was exceptional - driving was smooth and he could talk about the sites and share his perspective about the sites along the way. The 3 Wineries that were selected for us gave a good cross section small organic, through to large industrial size production. Nice lunchtime destination too.
Our Bus Driver/Tour Guide Silvio was wonderful! Absolutely a great experience.
what can we say about our driver Patrick!! He was great and very informative. It was a beautiful trip and the wineries were so beautiful.
Trip was fantastic. The guide, George, was very knowledgeable and had many stories and information about San Francisco and wine tasting in general. The three wineries were great..one small organic producer, one medium sized family operation and one large winery. The presenters at all of them were very good and not pushing you to buy their wine. We had about five tastings at each one. The lunch stop at Sonoma was interesting. We had enough time to eat, lots of restaurants available as well as time to wander around the town square. Definitely a tour to take!
Great tour and great guide Silvio! He was very knowledgeable of the valleys and the wines!
We did three wine tasting: I personally like the first one in Napa Valley more. There was a more familiar atmosphere and the people looked very happy to show us their product.
I did not like the second winery for both, the wine and the tasting that was too fast. Also, the place looked more like a shop!
The last winery was very nice, probably the best, but the tasting was a little too fast.
I definitely recommend this trip to others: it is probably the best was to enjoy the valley and the wine since you don't have to drive!
My advice: it is better to include the tip in the online payment because sometimes people do not have enough cash to leave the tip and it is a pity for the guide that deserves it.
We thoroughly enjoyed our trip. Silvio was our tour guide and kept us entertained. They were about 10 mins late picking us up from our hotel, but we called Tower Tours and they told us how far away our shuttle was. Silvio explained the scenery and the history of the 2 wine regions. Madonna Estates was my favorite and then we went to Sutter Homes. Both were in Napa Valley. Silvio stopped at the Napa Valley sign and allowed us to get out and take pictures. We ate lunch in historic Sonoma and Silvio drove around explaining the different restaurants around. Our final destination was Sebastiani. I didn't enjoy their wine, but they had the most beautiful winery of the 3. We had enough time to sample wine, tour, shop, and take pics at each destination. Everyone should go on this tour.
Our tour guide was very knowledgeable of the city and provided a great historical lesson! The wineries were good. This was my first time on such a trip and I was really impressed with the hosts at each of the wineries. Definitely recommend this trip to others!
We enjoyed this tour very much and learned a lot about the wine making process. Our driver Silvio was very interesting and knowledgeable and I would definitely recommend this tour!
overally satisfied. even though the level of winery is not that high, driver is kind and humoruous, condition of vehicle is very nice and driver gave us free water as well. all tasting fee is included. no burden of paying extra fee.
Our driver Silvio, was so friendly and efficient. Very knowledgeable as well in all the areas covered by the tour. All in all, I'd say that it was indeed a pleasurable, informative and enjoyable tour.
Our tour guide was hilarious and knowledgeable. The first winery was in Napa, which was very good. The second felt rushed and the lower quality of the three, and we noticed they gave free tastings there. The third in Sonoma was the only one which explained the grapes in the wine. A good value tour.
Driver, Sylvio, was very knowledgable and I enjoyed his commentary. Winery choices were not that interesting but it was an enjoyable day and it was a good route for scenery.
Candy United States of ...
There was nothing wrong with this tour, but it was not my favorite of the many things we did in our week in SF. I did learn so much about the vineyards and different grapes, etc., and that was great. It was a long day - and despite the fact that our bus driver was extremely knowledgeable about the area and the wine process, we found it very difficult to understand his strong accent. That is not his fault - our ears were just not attuned to him. The wineries were delightful, and the hosts were all informative and generous.
I really enjoyed the tour. However, the tour seemed rushed. Especially at the last winery since we were only there for 30 minutes. I would have liked to spend more time at each winery
Good tour guide, but low end wineries. Don't waste your money if you like good wine.
The trip was alright. Tour guide was friendly. I think this type of event caters to a predominantly older audience.
The tour, overall, was just- good.
The positives first: Our tour guide was great. He was knowledgeable and a safe driver. He made sure we had all the information we needed, got to where we needed to be, and gave good suggestions for lunch. A to him. The shuttle picking us up at the hotel was a bonus. It was there promptly at 8 a.m. and we departed for the tour at 9 a.m. We arrived at the first winery around 10:30 a.m. The wineries we went to were good, the first one Madonna Estates being my favorite because there was more opportunity for tasting.
Things to change: Out of a 9 hour day, less than 3 hours was actually spent at the wineries. This, I will say, was a bummer. The first stop was about an hour the second and third we were only there for about 45 minutes each. Also, the wineries were good, but only one allowed you back to the barrel and wine making areas. The other two, we were told, weren't allowing participants back to the wine making areas any more. This was a bummer. Out of three, two were essentially quick info sessions and guided tastings. I would see if there are more tour friendly wineries to work with.
Also, while Yountville is a cute town, we didn't need to spend an hour and 40 minutes there for lunch. Most people were ready to go after an hour. This resulted in us getting to the last winery late and shortening our time there. Also, this caused us to have to come back to San Fran during 5 o'clock traffic. Nightmare. It took us 3 hours to get from wine country back to our hotel. There weren't working bathrooms on the bus either so no one could use the restroom for 3 hours.
Overall, the tour was decent. I had never been to wine country before so it gave me a taste of what it was like. I would just suggest restructuring the day so more time is spent at the wineries and to avoid traffic.
