We originally booked this excursion because it was impossible to get tickets to Alcatraz otherwise. We're glad we did. The Wine Country Bike Tour was one of our most memorable aspects of the trip. We had a lovely picnic halfway through the tour and enjoyed sampling the wine and meeting people on our journey. Alcatraz was pretty cool, too.
Great combo!! Alcatraz is a must see! and the bike tour was fabulous. 4 wineries total and lots of beautiful views of Napa from your bike. Best 2 days of our stay in the San Francisco area! Highly recommend!
Great experience riding through beautiful country. Picnic lunch was delicious. Alcatraz was a neat experience. Just be prepared to spend a lot of money if you plan to taste any wine.
EXELENT TRIP!! Very friendly and the group ad the guides were VEEERY FRIENDLY btoh of them super cool...HIGHLY RECOMENDED
Alcatraz was a unique experience to ponder its history.
The Wine/Bike tour was friendly and well organized. The wineries were interesting to visit and the lunch was really nice too.
We, and all of the other people in our group bar one, bought this tour because we were too slow to get Alcatraz tickets directly from NPS.
In saying that though, we all enjoyed the tour and it was fun to ride around the Napa valley getting blotto on wine tastings. It was good to get out of the SF and it's terrible summer cloud / wind, and overall the tour was run well.
I would highly recommend it if you're staying around the area for more than just a few days. Just remember to take MARKET STREET to the Civic Centre meeting spot, do not walk through Tenderloins.
We chose this tour when the weather called for temps in the 70s. Turned out to be 112 degrees and very uncomfortable to bike ride. It would have been a picturesque bike ride if the temps had been more normal. The vineyards we visited were hit and miss and the wine stewards at each spot were generally below average compared to other spots I've visited. Lunch was very satisfying and I'm a vegetarian.
The sampling prices were higher than stated on the informational
Danny our host was very accommodating
Booked this tour for Alcatraz as it was sold out. The Wine Country Bike Tour was good, though expensive. Ad says that excluded from the price is $10-$15pp tasting at ea winery, but no winery on our tour was less than $20 for a tasting. (You could share 1 tasting btwn 2 ppl though)
The supplier of this tour was horrible (Gears and Grapes). They dont answer their phone, cancel on you prior to trip with out letting you know, and blame everyone and everything under the sun other than them. Viator has been very helpful throughout this ordeal. STAY AWAY from Gears and Grapes.
