The one thing I really wanted to do in Costa Rica was go on a coffee tour. The fact that this one also includes chocolate is a bonus! Everything was efficient and perfect, from hotel pickup, to the tour itself, to the drop off. Our tour guides were friendly and funny. Most of it was scripted and some of it was a bit cheesy, but it was still fun. It was an informative but fun tour. They have a nice gift shop where you can buy coffee, chocolate, and other gifts. They also have free samples of all the coffee and chocolates. There is no pressure to buy anything, you can just sample as much as you want. We did this tour 8 months ago I forgot to write a review sooner so I've forgotten some of the details but we still talk about how much fun we had on this tour. We'd love to go on it again. We brought coffee and chocolate home with us. I wish I had bought more. I wish I had some right now...

This was a very enjoyable half day tour. I was picked up from my hotel and driven about an hour through San Jose to the Britt Coffee company, which is in town and not too far away. Once there I had about a half hour to kill and was able to explore a little and relax.

The two gentleman running the tour were absolutely hilarious, and definitely did a good job of both entertaining us and informing us about coffee and the culture and jobs surrounding it. It was given in both English and Spanish and they did a great job of including both our English and Spanish speakers in the group.

The meal was exactly like most of the tour meals I've seen: Decent, not great, and it was basically the same rice, beans, chicken or veggie option. Still, it was welcome and I enjoyed some delicious coffee along with it.

The gift shop is a little expensive, but totally worth it I think. I brought back coffee and chocolate for numerous friends/family/coworkers and everyone has raved about it seriously: Try the mint or caramel hot chocolate!.

I definitely would suggest this tour for anyone wanting an easy day around San Jose to relax and learn a bit about new things. After a full day spent off in the rain forests the day before, this was a welcome day to wind down and relax.

Thanks for such a wonderful time Bernardo, Olman, Maria and Tulio. You guys were able to convey the history and industry of coffee in an entertaining and funny way. The place ia beautiful and the butterfly garden was a lovely surprise. We were able to taste a variety pf coffee and chocolate. A Must

Lots of fun and loads of information. There were plenty of coffee samples and the female guide was knowledgable and approachable. Watch out in the store, pay in colones because the deal they give you gets eaten up in the exchange rate from US to CR.

The Britt Coffee tour is always interesting, even for non-coffee drinkers. It is informative and done in an entertaining way.

The coffee tour was great. The Britt tour showed the processing, discussed the coffee culture, and the guides kept it entertaining! The chocolate tasting shouldn't be advertised as only limited information and samples were provided.

This was a low key more commercialized tour. They did a good job of keeping you interested with the comradery of the two hosts. Seeing the coffee plantation field was my favorite part.

Great fun. Maria, the tour lead, was darling! Learned so much about coffee growing! Wonderful buffet lunch and the coffee and chocolate were divine. Nice butterfly garden next to gift shop/dining room. Parts of the tour were a little hokey, but all-in-all an experience not to miss.

This 'tour' was much shorter than I had anticipated and was more just hype to get you to buy from the VERY large store that the guides conveniently dropped you at when the tour had finished.
That being said, they guides were awesome and kept my interest the whole time. I just wish that their could have been more practical learning we never even actually got to see a coffee plantation, everything was just staged.

Actual coffee tour was good - but it is more of a paid infomercial for Britt coffee to sell expensive coffee and chocolate.

Would avoid booking through the Viator tour as the organizer is really bad at logistics and required at least six emails and still never confirmed address of pickup hotel. Driver was also not good and did the bare minimum.

I was in a tour with locals and even though I am fluent in Spanish. But there were times that I was lost because she was speaking in Slang and Costa Rican idioms. I learned a lot about coffee and even have a souvenir shop. You can find their coffee cheaper in a supermarket. The lunch was meh.

The tour guides were the three stoogesLiterally. The food was not as good as I thought I would experience. The meats were not cooked thoroughly and pink chicken is served. For the amount of money you spend this coffee tour is not the best. You cn spend your time in better places. DOKA Estates has a much better tour and much, much better food at the end of the tour.
