What You Can Expect

Overnight Pacuare River and Rafting Trip from San Jose

Costa Rica wildlife

Day 1: San Jose or Alajuela – Pacuare River (B, L, D)
Meet your guide in the lobby of your San Jose or Alajuela hotel after a good breakfast. Head straight for the Pacuare River to begin your rafting adventure down 8 miles (13 km) of Class III whitewater over the course of 14 rapids. Look out for tropical flora and fauna like howler monkeys and birds as you go.

Arrive at an ecolodge around noon and break for lunch, and then choose to zipline (own expense), hike, swim, or relax in a hammock. Dine under the stars, which are plentiful in this rural part of the jungle.

Day 2: Pacuare River – San Jose or Alajuela (B, L)
After a cup of coffee and a hearty breakfast, get head back to your raft and take to Class IV rapids on the Lower Pacuare. Explore waterfalls, take a hike, and eat lunch on the river.

Complete your tour in Siquirres, where you can shower and enjoy the gardens before returning to San Jose.
