A ‘glowing’ review!
Thaddeus_P, Jan 2022
Really cool experience!!! The team of ‘captains’ guiding the gaggle of kayakers were very patient and informative. We got to see the glowing little critters even on a relatively bright night as the tour guides brought tarps with which we could cover our heads. Kayaking through the very dark mangrove swamp was also really neat and unique.
Amazing experience

If you are visiting Puerto Rico this is something you have to do. It was amazing. Every splash of the paddle looked like explosion of stars.
Never been in a kayak...
John_B, Dec 2021
Never been in a kayak before, was exciting. One way to improve the experience… the stars were out in full force. I site we don’t get to see in the city. Talk about the constellations a bit also
Terrific company for bio bay
libabeyer, Dec 2021
Took 9 and 10 year olds. The staff were absolutely terrific- patient, safe, knowledgeable and energetic. They were so kind and attentive with the kids and always knew where we were. Cloudy night so glow was not super bright but definitely saw lights and kayaking in dark night was half the adventure. Saw awesome lizards in trees. We were 3 so went in 3 person kayak.
Okay, experience

Hard to paddle, couldn't see anything in water, but our tour guide was good. I would recommend for kids
Nice experience
Rose_H, Sep 2021
Nice experience. I've never kayaked before so I was quite nervous to try kayaking in the dark. Transportation from San Juan was good, we were the last group to be picked up so we weren't in the van all night. There were probably about 40 people in our group and there were several groups in the bay. The instructions for kayaking were basic but the guides were helpful as we kayaked into the bay. The biggest disappointment was the fact that it was fairly bright that night and even with the tarps, it was difficult to see the glow of bioluminescent water. Despite that, it was an enjoyable experience.

Not the best
Andrea_B, Aug 2021
Honestly, I would not recommend this tour. Despite it advertising that transportation is included from San Juan, they did not have any pick up sites near Old San Juan. While the driver was nice, the tour guides as a whole were not knowledgeable about the flora and fauna. They were also not super friendly when other novice kayakers struggled. The tour groups were far too large- 15ish 2 person kayaks in a narrow mangrove area that was also shared by small boats that were not friendly to kayakers. If you do this tour, we highly recommend copious amounts of bug repellent on both your skin and clothes. The bioluminescence was not remarkable at all and could only be seen when moving the water with your hands. In fact, they had us put a tarp over our heads so that we could see anything at all. Other places (Vieques) are said to be much better. Despite recommending a change of clothes, no time was provided to actually change before the ride back.

More tarps
Katharine_K, Aug 2021
It was lots of fun getting to the lagoon at night. We had to look under some tarps, because it wasn't dark enough.. There were only two tarps for several kayaks. I wished they had a tarp for each kayak,I didn't get to see any and soon after we had to return.
