What You Can Expect

Deserted Island Catamaran Day Sail from Fajardo

Enjoy a delicious lunch buffet!

You may be just a few miles from civilization, but this 5.5-hour catamaran cruise to Icacos Cay feels like your very own tropical adventure. Explore the untouched beaches of this nature preserve while you spend the day swimming and snorkeling, before enjoying a buffet lunch and cocktails.

Start your day with an optional pickup from hotels in San Juan, or make your own way to the marina in Fajardo. As your catamaran pulls up anchor and heads into the cerulean seas, check out great views of the coastline’s beaches, plus scenic vistas of nearby El Yunque National Forest. Don’t forget to enjoy a piña colada, rum punch, soda or juice from the bar on the way.

After about an hour’s worth of cruising, your catamaran arrives at Icacos Cay, part of a chain of 10 small islands that comprise La Cordillera Keys Nature Reserve. If weather conditions require, your captain may navigate instead to the equally stunning island of Palominitos. Then hop in the water for some aquatic activities, including snorkeling on the nearby reef, swimming or beach combing on the shore of this placid paradise.

When you start to get hungry around midday, head back to the boat for a buffet spread. Build a sandwich from the included array of fresh baked bread (pan de agua), sliced meats including turkey, ham, pastrami and salami, sliced cheeses, lettuce, tomatoes and pickles. Make sure to also grab some sides, including gourmet pasta salad, chicken salad, coleslaw, bean dip, chips, cookies and fresh fruit.

Following lunch, your catamaran heads to another reef for more snorkeling or sunbathing. While underwater, keep your eyes peeled for reef creatures including colorful fish and the occasional octopus or manta ray. Or stay dry on the deck, where you can gaze at the sea life through glass windows or shoot down the boat’s built-in waterslide.

Your relaxing sailing day finishes with a return cruise back to harbor, where you can find your optional hotel transportation back to San Juan.

Extremely well organized and managed. Captain Wilo and first mate Christian made sure we all had a wonderful experience. Beautiful weather and the gorgeous waters of Puerto Rico made the trip well worth it. Delicious food and drinks, time to explore the deserted beaches of a local cay, and snorkeling about the marine coral and colorful fish couldn't have been better! There are still may scars from hurricane Maria, but the island is rebounding and more than ready for the tourism to return. We had a wonderful time!

This was a really fun day on our trip. The first thing that happened was I screwed up the departure time so we were late arriving. The woman at the desk met us at the car with a golf cart for some of us while the others sprinted to the boat. Phew!
The sail was choppy and we got soaked because we sat in the front- fun for the kids. The first stop was beautiful and we swam in the warm waters and enjoyed lunch. The second stop to snorkel was lovely albeit a little rough but that was mother natures fault. : the boat crew was fun, friendly, and knowledgeable. It was a great day!

Had this great fun day in May 17. The crew were fabulous and couldn't do enough for you, especially for the non-swimmers/snorkelers. Food and drink good and plentiful. Thoroughly enjoyed the day and would definitely recommend.

This was a great snorkeling trip. The first stop was to practice snorkeling or walk on the beach. The second stop had so many fish it seem like we were in the middle of an aquarium. The crew was very helpful and informative and the food was excellent. We highly recommend this trip.

The Catamaran Day Sail was beautiful. If you love the sea and marine life, this is an amazing tour. Our guide provided a very friendly experience while we snorkeled out in the ocean. Seeing all the different species of fish and coral reef was unforgettable. Highly recommended if you enjoy swimming/snorkeling.
