Traveler Tips

There is not much hiking in the rainforest but lots of water slides, cliff and rope jumping!

Worth it - a great time
Lucas_S, Jan 2022
We had a fantastic time with Patricia and Maxine. Other reviews helped prepare us - you’re driving to the edge of the rainforest, hiking into the rainforest, and then hiking through around and over the river for a really fun time. It’s a bit strenuous, which we loved, and it pushed us to jump off cliffs, swing from ropes and slide down rocks. Thank you!
Something to keep in mind..

My family enjoyed the guided hike into El Yunque rainforest; it was definitely a unique and memorable experience. The guides are fantastic. I am an experienced hiker so I had no problem with going in the mud, over roots, through caves, etc. I will say, however, that the rock slides are another story altogether. If you continue beyond the first swimming area then you will basically have to go down these slides. My issue is with the second slide. I think it's too dangerous- It is very narrow and not a smooth ride. The risk of hitting your head and getting seriously injured was out of my comfort zone. Maybe helmets should be provided at the very least. I was truly worried about my 12 year old getting down safely. I think it's important to keep this in mind if you are considering this adventure.

We absolutely loved being able to jump off of the big rock and swing off the rope. Being together as a family was incredible in our motherland's island.

Exciting and fun!

This is a bit of a challenging hike for beginners but well worth the effort. The natural slides were awesome and certainly not something we would have ever tried on our own. Our guides (and our group) were great! Now just waiting to get our photos :-)
Wonderful for ages 12 and up!
AllieVess, Dec 2021
The hike and waterslide, jump from the cliff, and rope swing were amazing and I would definitely do it again, however you need to change the description and be CLEAR that you get EXTREMELY muddy and dirty on the walk from the parking lot to the site. Also, the hike to the water features is strenuous. This tour should NOT allow any children under 12 years old. You must not be afraid of heights, getting dirty, steep inclines, and be able to pull your own body weight through rocks and tight spaces.
Really great trip and trip guides
Alexandra_S, Dec 2021
This is a very well run trip. Our guides Jess and Patricia did an awesome job keeping everyone safe and happy. The hike and water stops are very busy with many tour groups but our guides were able to adapt and still give us a great adventure. Our tour included people of all skill levels and everyone had fun on the waterfall slides, even the non-swimmers! Thanks for a great day 😊

Lack of info from website and guides!!!
Maria_R, Dec 2021
The kids had a blast BUT I wish they were more clear about the tour then what the website states. We thought we would have a choice on whether we wanted to get in the water. When we got there we were told we would be fully submerged underwater. We were told no phones, blah, blah, blah. I had already paid so at this point we decided to just go for it. We get to the first area of water and then we were told that we had to be able to lift our own weight to continue on or we had a choice to stay at the first which was very beautiful but we had NO PHONES to take pics. My daughter had to ask total strangers if they could take pics and send to us, otherwise we had nothing to take with us just our memories. They should really be more upfront with all this info and the guides need to be more customer friendly.
