Traveler Tips

Water shoes aren’t sufficient for the hike - but shoes that can get wet and have traction are the best bet.
It’s muddy and fun and exciting; make sure to wear old clothes!
Be prepared to get a bit muddy and bring water shoes or shoes you don’t really care about.

The first part of the excursion was great. ( el yunque) the second part (kayaking) Was horrible. No bio, no organización, and a lot of kayaks.
Wonderful experience
Huan_L, Jul 2022
Wonderful trip. We had the best time. The hike was just right, challenging yet very manageable in the rain forest. We got some rain showers during our hike to make things more interesting. Our guides Jason, Luis, Tarzan are super! They kept the group together, were very knowledgeable, explained everything, assisted us when needed, and gave us some stunning water acrobatic shows. Lunch/dinner at El Flamboyant Restaurant was the highlight of food during our entire time in PR. Best fresh tasty food all around! Highly recommended this tour!
Great Experience! Here’s a few tips/suggestions
Kruti_P, Jul 2022
The guides were really clear in rules and guidance. They answered all of our questions and helped calm our nerves if we got nervous about the trek or kayak experience. My one suggestion to other tourists is to make sure to have enough cash for tips after the experience and for the tour guides to accept tips via Venmo or cash app. I wanted ton tip more, but only had a little cash on me. You’ll stop for a full lunch- but I would bring snacks for after the hike and kayaking. They have water for you. And do a great job of bringing the group together. Felt safe and in the care of the whole time! Do it- you’ll do big things and enjoy them.
Amazing Experience

Such a fun tour! The guides were super friendly and organized. A must do if you’re visiting Puerto Rico, coming from a local. ¡Gracias por la experiencia!
Rainforest and bioluminescence

Amazing views with amazing tour guides! Julian, Christian, and Mitchell made us feel so safe. The water activities included natural water slides rope swinging and cliff jumping. The kayaking started a little earlier and felt rushed once we were able to see things really light up. The lagoon was so bright just wish we had more time
Excellent

This experience was more than we bargained in the best way possible. Our tour, Felix, was amazing. He encouraged us to have a great time and make us feel safe along the way. Make sure you wear shoes that provide great grip for a more enjoyable experience. Unforgettable memories were made.

Felix and Ilias and Mitchell were the best tour guides a group could ask for! I’ve waited my whole life to go to El Yunque and I’m mad I waited so long! Rope swings, rock jumps and muddy hiking all my favorite and the food was insane!
Must do!
Fariana_R, Jul 2022
This was one of the most amazing and beautiful experiences that I have seen so far. Our tour guide Felix and his compadre we amazing and very fun and took us to an amazing restaurant after! Just being able to intake the beautiful forest and rivers was amazing. It’s a must do. It is intense. Lord of climbing, muddy and slippery! But the most amazing and beautiful experience. Try to get water hiking shoes. The kayak is okay, it’s very tiring and the plankton experience was only a few min. Overall a 5 for the combo
A good time for all, pack accordingly

A really busy day! The rainforest excursion was awesome; very very muddy but worth it. We had a group ranging from 10 years old to 40 and we all had a great time. I think that it would be best to wear sneakers and socks that you’re willing to toss afterwards (no open toed shoes, water shoes would have been difficult, and boots would have been heavy as you cross water in your shoes). No bugs that I could see and no bites. There is rock climbing to an extent, but the guides help you a lot and so long as you’re in ok shape, I think you’d be fine. The kayaking excursion was ok; I think we were all pretty beat after the rainforest hike. When kayaking back in to shore, you will be fighting the current, in the dark, with some narrow passages, so it is physically draining. The bioluminescence was visible under the tarp and it was fun to see, very glittery - it’s easier to see if you splash a little water into your kayak (I saw it best splashed onto my leg) or hold a shallow amount in your hand. Mostly we enjoyed the time just kayaking around the lagoon. For this one, you should definitely wear bug spray or long sleeves - the mosquitos are aggressive (one of our party had about 30-40 bites down just one side of her arm and back alone). Water shoes, rubber flip flops, or barefoot would be fine for this. I would recommend bringing a backpack to keep on the bus that has a change of clothes (or at least shoes) and a towel for after the rainforest hike, and then a change of clothes and shoes for after the kayaking. I also recommend bring a couple plastic bags to store your wet clothes/shoes in. You’ll be much more comfortable. There’s time to change after each excursion. And there’s a long time between each activity/bus rides, where you’ll be sitting in wet clothes if you don’t change. All guides were helpful and fun! But we were wiped out; got back to our hotel around 10pm.
Great choice & worth every cent

Our tour guides were so energetic and provided many educational facts throughout the trip. We started off on a hike through El Yunque and were able to go down a water slide, etc. Our tour guides were very helpful and they truly enjoyed their job and loves Puerto Rico which provided a wonderful experience for everyone. The kayaking tour was an amazing experience as well. We learned about the plankton that light up when you splash in the water. It rained on the way back but that made even more of an amazing experience. Also the whole experience was very organized.
Highly recommend!!

Felix, Luis, and mitchel were awesome tour guides. I highly recommend this trip. It was so much fun!!
Fun time. Too many people in the group.
AlexReznik, Jul 2022
Good trip and activity. The guide was great and it would have been a five star, had the group not been so large. Because it was such a large group, too much time.was wasted, leaving too little time to enjoy the waterhole.

The guides were very informative and fun! An experience absolutely worth doing! The *natural* water slide, rope swing, and cliff jumping was an absolute blast! The bio bay was one of the most unique experiences!
Highlight of our trip!
Maegan_K, Jul 2022
Our guide was amazing and helped us have a memorable experience in El Yunque. I can’t swim and am very hesitant with water but there were three guides to help us and made me feel comfortable. They also gave us pictures and videos afterwards which was a huge plus! Definitely the highlight of our trip to Puerto Rico!

AMAZING EXPERIENCE!
Tracy_L, Jul 2022
This was sooo much fun! Bring hiking shoes that can get wet and muddy there’s lots of mud. Don’t wear good clothes. Don’t wear open toed shoes at all!!! The guides Phillix and his group were AMAZING and fun and very helpful! Lots of patience too! My 12 year old got through all the steep climbs. Did the cliff jumping, slide rock, rope swing. The water was amazing. Can’t bring snacks or backpacks. Maybe water pouch for phone if you want to. We didn’t bring anything and it was nice! You will love it if your in for adventure!
Amazing trip, some things to keep in mind
Hibbah_K, Aug 2022
Wonderful all around experience for our first time in PR! We were picked up from the hotel - a bit late due to traffic and we called the front office who promptly answered and let us know they were running behind. On the way there, Felix gave us a detailed rundown of the experience. Him, Elias, and Mitchell were incredibly helpful, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable and they are what made this trip so fantastic. Things I wish I’d known before: - I brought water shoes thinking I could change into them, but you can’t carry anything with you off the bus so I wore my tennis shoes, which worked great but would have been good to know - group size was 32 people so also just something to keep in mind. There is a good deal of waiting around, but you’re surrounded by a beautiful rainforest much of that time so it’s not bad. - the tour guides emphasized how hard and strenuous the hike was, and other then a couple of tough spots we really weren’t winded at any point. Another person on the tour however said she found it way harder than they made it out to be, so it really does depend on your personal level and comfort. - it is strongly recommended not to bring your phones. At the end of the trip however, I think I would have been fine with my phone tucked into my life vest (in a waterproof pouch) which is what some people did. Again this is personal preference. We didn’t bring ours, and the guides take some pictures and send them to you, and it was also lovely to disconnect for a few hours. All in all - breathtaking rainforest and views, and we had by far the best tour guides of any group there!
