Meet your guide and pick up your bike and helmet, and kick off your two-wheeled tour at San Sebastián’s historic Reyes Catolicos. Start pedaling and head toward the city’s oldest bridge, the Maria Cristina.

Cruise through the bustling neighborhood of Gros and spend some time mingling with the locals at Cataluna Plaza. Then, hop back on your bike and take in sweeping views of the Bay of Biscay as you glide down to Zurriola Beach, a popular surfing destination.

Next, pass by the controversial Kursall building as you wind down the boulevard arriving at La Concha beach. Stop here and discover San Sebastian’s surprising connection with Japan.

Continue along the bidegorri bike path that hugs the beach, and admire the stately palace of Queen Maria Cristina en route to Ondarreta Beach — a favorite sandy spot for locals. Pedal on to the end of crescent-shaped La Concha Bay, where you’ll head inland.

Scout some examples of modern Basque art before winding your way through one of the city’s oldest districts. On route, discover a ‘secret passage’ that connects two areas of the city and then follow the Urumea River past bourgeois villas and through working-class neighborhoods.

Your tour concludes back at Reyes Catolicos, where you can head out on your own in one of the best places in town for a pintxo bar crawl.

Had a great time on the cycle tour. Both the guides were very knowledgeable, informative, approachable and engaging. So glad that we had locals showing us around and once the tour had ended, they recommended the best places to go in town for what every your heart desire. Only gripe is that i didnt do it sooner. Thanks again Oihana

We have done city bike tours in...

We have done city bike tours in Paris, Rome, and Barcelona and have found them to be great introductions to a city. We have done walking tours as well but find that bike tours cover so much more in the same amount of time. So based on our past experiences, my husband and I looked forward to the tour I booked through Viator with Basque by Bike. The tour ended up exceeding our expectationsit was the best of the city bike tours weve done, and we liked the other ones very much! Our tour guide, Tomasz, was a great guide. He is the owner of the company, speaks excellent English, has a great sense of humor, and is very knowledgeable about the city. There were only two others in our group that day. The 10-speed bikes were in excellent condition, with baskets to hold personal belongings. We also stored some at his office by the harbor, the meeting point. Tomasz was very safety conscious as well. San Sebastian is a bike-friendly city, so we were on bike paths almost the entire tour. The city is very flat, making pedaling easy. The only hill we climbed was Mount Urgull, using a lift to get to the starting point. After that, it was mostly flat or downhill. Besides covering the typical tourist areas, the tour also included residential areas as well, so you really had a sense of the city beyond what tourists usually see. We learned a lot a about the history of San Sebastian along the way, and Tomasz was able to answer any question that came up. I didnt want this tour to end. Book this tripyou wont be disappointed.
