This tour is a fabulous way to enjoy great food and wine while learning some Santa Barbara history. Brittany our tour guide had an amazing personality and made our tour fun! She remembered all our names and encouraged interaction between the group. Seven places in about 3.5 hours. Two of the stops were to taste some locally made wines. We started at an award winning bakery and ended with pizza and ice cream. In between, we had a sampling of Asian cuisine and olive oil tasting at a local indoor marketplace. What really stood out was the excellent wines produced in Santa Barbara. Two tasting stops with four pours each. Time was allotted to purchase wine and olive oil if any in the group were interested with a 15 discount. Don't eat too much before you go on this tour. It's worth the cost and remember to tip.
We had a fun filled 3 hours with a knowledgeable and personable guide. She was a joy to be with and the food and wine experience she choose we diverse, interesting and delicious.
If you have a free afternoon in Santa Barbara, give it a try
A fantastic tour for those who like food, history, and meeting new people. Brittany Eggerts, our tour guide, did a great job explaining not only the food but also answering local history questions a pointing out points of interest. We had a wonderful afternoon enjoying shops that we would not have found ourselves. The macaroons were a great starter. Their is a little something for everyone's taste along the way.
Would recommend - their is a little walking involved wear good walking shoes along the way but you have plenty of stops along the way and can always catch the trolley back to your vehicle.
This was our very first food tour so we were not sure what to expect. We were hopeful based on the positive reviews.
Our guide Brittany was at the meeting place when we arrived a few minutes early. She advised us that we were the only ones to book the tour that day and she had no problem with that. She asked about any food allergies and food non-preferences and provided us each with a bottle of water. She told us it would take about 3-1/2 hours for the tour and that there would be water and restrooms available at each stop. She saw that we wore sneakers and dressed comfortably, which important since there would be a fair amount of walking.
We started at the top of Main St and worked down to near the bottom with some crisscrossing along the way. Brittany pointed out sights of interest along the way. She called ahead to each stop so there was hardly any wait time for our tasting. On the way between stops, she would explain what to expect and gave us background on the restaurant/wine bar. We enjoyed the mix of food/snacks/beverages.
Other reviewers mentioned that there was too much or too little to eat. In my opinion there was plenty to eat and at some stops, I got to eat what my wife couldn't finish. As a result, we were both satisfied with the amount of food and ended up having a light dinner that night.
I was very pleased that Brittany did not rush us at any of the stops. She said the tour would take about 3-1/2 hr and that is what it took.
It was a good mix of food and drink. We probably walked 10,000 steps, which was not a problem for us. At the end of the tour, she asked what was our favorite stop. This was really tough to answer. We enjoyed the macaroons, the noodle bowl, the pizza, the wine and the ice cream so it was hard to pick just one. She then took a some more time to answer questions we had about the area and other things to see and do while in the area.
This was such a good experience, we look forward to trying food tours in other cities after checking the reviews, of course.
We met up with Stephanie at a French cafe. She was a delight. The tour was so nice especially because we were on foot and we're able to view Santa Barbara through the eyes of a local. We enjoyed our experience thou roughly!
It was a wonderful. 3 hours. Lots of good food and interesting info about Santa Barbara history.
Really fun trip. Well planned and the people we met were also great. This was worth the money and gave us a chance to cram in a lot of Santa Barbara life in a short amount of time. Definitely recommend.
Excellent tour showing us lots of Santa Barbara we would undoubtedly of missed. Some really good food, best pizza I've ever tasted! Would recommend you do this tour early as you will want to go back to some of the places you visit.
Great guide lots of fun a wonderful overview of the city, food and wine
Great tour - friendly and knowledgeable tour guide. Fun group. A variety of delicious food and lots of it! Readily accommodated the vegetarian and gluten-free needs of my family members. They also had plenty of non-alcoholic options for my teenage daughters. I also appreciated the direct contact - we received a call from the guide when we didn't show up at the correct meeting spot and she pleasantly and patiently directed us to the right spot.
So much fun. Our family loved this tour and would highly recommend! Evan was a great guide.
The guide was very knowledgeable. Small but fun group. Went to places I have never been to on my many trips to Santa Barbara. Every place was outstanding. Glad we were walking because it was a lot of food. Worth every penny.
This was one of the best things I did on my vacation! Evan, the owner/tour guide was amazing. She is very knowledgeable about Santa Barbara and it is very obvious that she really loves what she is doing. She was also training a new guide, Kendall, and she was great as well. Evan has put a lot of thought and work into the stops on the tour and where she wants to take her groups. Each place was just as amazing as the previous and all very different so it is a great assortment of things to try. She also has arrangements with most of the stops for discounts if you buy something or want to come back later that day. I was solo when I did this tour and both Evan and Kendall made sure I felt welcomed and included. Everything about this afternoon was perfect!
Evan and her team were very attentive, making sure that each of us felt included in the tour. We would recommend to others.
We have been to Santa Barbara many, many times, so to find a new experience, we were very happy with the Food Tour. Selections included desserts, wine, cheese, and full meals. The walking is easy, the history interesting, and we explored many little alleys from here to there they hide wine bars, chocolates, art, and other surprises. Our tour guide was very nice, though she could have been a little more engaged directly with the group. However, she was excellent at getting us to our destinations where she had prearranged our tastes, so we lost no time in waiting. Definitely recommend!
we had a wonderful tour, it ended up just being my husband and I and our guide. I would say that overall it was a wonderful tour except for one of the stops where we sampled cheese and there was no bread or wine to go with it, they served us water not appetizing at all our guide was very friendly and knowledgable. I would definitely do it againl
We were looking for something fun to do this weekend, and I spotted this Taste of Santa Barbara Tour. It was the perfect choice! Our tour guide, Kendall, was the perfect hostess as she guided us along State Street to 8 different establishments. Every stop was informative and delicious!
We enjoyed our afternoon with Kendall. As locals of SB, we learned some fun facts about our home and got some delicious food from restaurants that were new to us. Bring your appetite and sense of adventure!!
198 for 2 adults is way tooo much money for the tour because of the restaurants chosen. The restaurants were not upscale at all, but more like fast food. We have been on other tours and the food and the ambience of the restaurants were amazing, but not so on this tour. Started out with 2 French macaroon cookies standing on the sidewalk, then tofu or chicken Asian noodles with plastic utensils in a public market, then pizza group sat on long wall table facing the wall, then wine tasting cramped space, not enough room for the 8 person group, then 4 small 1 cheese bites not enough cheese for all to have even a bite of each type of cheese, then wine tasting and ending with ice cream standing outside on sidewalk. Our tour guide was very nice and did provide information and history of the city. On hot days, the guide should be cognizant of the group and the hot sun by stopping where there is shade and also making sure
there is water for the group at the stops.
