Depart from your Santiago hotel in an air-conditioned minivan and relax during the scenic 45-minute journey south of the city. Arrive at the stunning Santa Rita winery and listen to a short safety briefing before donning your helmet and setting off to cycle.

Pedal through charming roads surrounded by fruitful orchards, sprawling vineyards and traditional farms, stopping intermittently for a brief rest and some historical insight into the area. Arrive at the beautiful Carmen vineyard to begin your enriching exploration of the well-established winery.

Admire the deep-purple color of the distinctive carmenere grape as your guide offers a fascinating narration of the winery’s history; engross yourself in a captivating tale before venturing to Nativa, an enclave in which the production processes occur. Learn about the manufacturing methods of cabernet sauvignon and chardonnay before treating your senses to a tasting session upon a picturesque hilltop.

Inhale the fragrant mountain air and absorb spectacular views of the valley before climbing back onto your bike for the final part of the bike ride. Ride over vivid red clay roads to Santa Rita winery, an establishment hailed as one of Chile’s oldest. Explore fermentations cellars and bottling plants; visit the legendary Dona Paula Restaurant to hear about how battle-weary soldiers sought refuge there; and stand before the significant colonial building of Bodega 1.

Toast your tour by tasting three delicious wine varieties in the elegant bar. Enjoy some relaxed free time for the remainder of your tour, exploring the culturally vibrant grounds of the winery; discover more than 3,000 pre-Colombian artifacts in the onsite Andean Museum; stroll serenely through beautifully landscaped gardens; or browse the wine shop for special souvenirs. Return to Santiago in your comfortable vehicle at the tour’s conclusion.

I would not recommend this tour to anyone. First of all, the communication is absolutely terrible. After booking, I received zero information. I used all the options I could find for the company and finally got some contact the (late) afternoon the day before the tour. It had been unclear whether or not we would be on the hotel pick-up route or meet at the 'pick-up point'. They finally confirmed we would be picked up. Then they were 30 mins late to pick us up and, again, I had to call them to get any kind of update. After they picked us up, we drove for about 5 minutes to the 'pick-up point' where everyone dispersed onto different buses. If we had known exactly where the 'pick-up point' was, we could have just walked there but the information provided was so vague we had no idea where it was or that it was so darn close. If the company improved their communication even slightly, it would help. Now, on to the actual tour, it was so bad I won't even go into all the details. Here is the summary: do not expect any kind of real bike ride. It was an extremely short distance. We also stopped every two minutes. We had two tour guides and had a group of two different language speakers. It would have been great if they had split the group at the stops and each guide delivered the info to one group in their language. However, they kept us all together and then did the same presentation twice--one language after the other. You can imagine how much longer this made the day go with half of the time being rather boring. They also make it seem like you get a wine tasting at a few places which is not the case. You get no wine during the drawn-out, short-distance bike ride and then get 3 tastings at the winery where the tour started. This may not have been too bad if the wine at the one place you get any wasn't terrible. I couldn't even drink some of it, it was so bad. Lastly, there was no time to explore anything on your own (not that there was much else to see besides the gift shop) and then got back on the bus. All-in-all, a total waste of time and money. We used a different tour company for each excursion during our trip and Turistik Chile was the worst.

Not Much Of A Ride

Looking forward to a lengthy ride through the Maipo Valley I was disappointed that the ride was very short from the Santa Rita Winery to the Carmen Winery. While our guide was quite learned in wine lore the ride was short and my bike in need of maintenance. Perhaps given the condition of the bike I should be grateful that the ride was short. All in all disappointing.

Nice tour and would definitely recommend. The wine tasting host, Carlos (lol), was well informed and charismatic.

This was a fabulous tour! Our guide, Valentina was warm and friendly and gave us lots of useful information about Santiago and wine making in Chile. She took us on the bicycle ride through the vineyard which was enchanting. To get so close to the wine making process, to walk past stacks of barrels in the warm, moist air of the store was amazing. She stopped in shady places to explain the different parts of the vineyard as we rode through. Her English was excellent. Back at the centre, Victor's wine tasting taught me more about wine than many a presentation. Thank you! The drawback to the tour? I needed more time in the museum. To see the collection of gold artefacts alone is worth the trip and there are some wonderful textiles. But I've discovered I can buy wine from the Santa Rita winery from Majestic Wines, UK. Result!

This was an amazing tour and a great way to spend valentines day. We had so much fun. The paths were clear and the biking was not overwhelming. The tour was really cool, we got to go through the vineyards and find out about the growing process, the bottling process and the aging process. We also got to sample some amazing wine, it was a great tour and I'm glad we did it!

We signed up for the bike tour in anticipation that we would be able to experience more than the standard tour. Traveling to the winery we asked our guide Daniel if we could taste more premium wines He said yes, plus we would be able to see the museum and if we wanted to stop at the cafe. He LIED.

Picked up 15 min early from hotel and dropped off at tour bus depot which was extremely confusing. Once on our correct coach the rest of the day was great. Tour guides were terrific. Beautiful scenery and an easy bike ride. Bikes could use some attention though.

This tour was not very well...

This tour was not very well organised - we had arranged to be picked up from our accommodation but on the morning of the tour, nobody showed up to collect us. We waited for over half an hour then rang the company, only to be told that somebody had come to collect us but we hadn't been there and there were photos to prove it, which was a very strange statement!. We had been there since before the agreed pick up time so this wasn't true. There was no apology, after a long discussion on the phone they said that they would send somebody else to collect us. When we finally arrived at the vineyard, the coach picking up everybody else was late so we had half an hour to wait. Moving onto the tour itself, we were told to just pick a bike and the tour guide sped off into the distance! It was difficult to keep up at times. Unfortunately one of our group fell off her bike, but the tour guide was so far ahead she hadn't noticed. We received some information as we travelled around the vineyards in English and Spanish, was which quite interesting, and had a little bit of wine to taste on the way round. When we got back to the centre at the end of the tour, half the group were still cycling and the other half were sat down inside wine tasting! Everything seemed very rushed. We had 15 minutes or so to taste three wines which were all very nice. Its just a shame that we didn't have longer to enjoy the experience. Overall, I would recommend a trip to this vineyard as the views were spectacular and the wines were really nice. But I wouldn't recommend going through this company, its probably best to book with another or go there independently.
