What You Can Expect

Small-Group Valparaiso and Wine Tour from Santiago

Emiliana - Wine tasting

Receive a morning pickup by an air-conditioned minivan from your Santiago hotel. You’ll proceed through the scenic outskirts of the Chilean capital into the vineyards of the Casablanca Valley.

Arrive at Emiliana Winery, a vineyard that’s situated in what has come to be known as one of the country’s top wine-producing areas for both red and white wines. Take a tour of the wine-making operation and learn about its close connection with the local plants and livestock. You’ll also get to sample four of the winery’s latest vintages, accompanied by local cheese or chocolate.

Leave the vineyard behind and proceed to Valparaiso, a hilly port town that many have favorably compared to a Chilean version of San Francisco. Starting at the port you’ll check out Sotomayor Square before proceeding by trolley-bus to Anibal Porto Square. You’ll also take a ride in the Queen Victoria Elevator and enjoy the “bohemian” vibe of the city’s Cerro Alegre and Concepción areas.

Take a break for lunch in a traditional restaurant before exploring the town’s lighthouse. Then receive a ride back to Santiago, where you’ll be dropped off at your hotel.

This day trip is so much better than it sounds on the website. The wine tour is a really nice and interesting visit to an organic, environmentally and socially sustainable vineyard. Even the wine tasting was enjoyable and informative. The walking tour of Valparaiso was great. We visited lots of streets and alleys with Berti, our excellent guide, and felt we had had a really good exploration of the city in the time available to us.

A wonderful day with Valentina as our expert guide and our driver Francisco who had the patience of a saint with all the traffic he navigated us through. Valparaiso is such an interesting city, which personally I'd love to return to and photograph in greater detail... such a blank canvas for the camera lens. It was certainly a busy day with two cruise ships in port, but as we had a reasonably early start, we didn't really encounter to many other tourists until later in the morning. We both had a welcome lunch at the Calfulafquen and an ice cold beer Del Puerto Pale Ale, which I wish we could get here in Australia Restaurant before heading off to the Emiliana Organic Vineyard for a tour of the vines and a very informative view of the organic side of grapevines growing is. Once again many thanks and best wishes to Valentina for her future photographic ventures.

The visit to Valparaiso was very interesting. Colorful and eclectic housing and other structures are scattered on the steep hillsides, with many walls covered with abstract and exaggerated murals. Narrow and winding streets and stairs take one to new sights and colors around every corner. The funiculars are an adventure. The lunch restaurant had good seafood and great views of the city and the Isla Negra coast. The tour of the major sustainable winery in the Casablanca valley was very informative and interesting and the wine and cheese pairing at the tasting was a pleasant change. The guide had suggested and early departure from Santiago and an early return so as to avoid traffic jams and that was most appreciated. Our guide was enthusiastic and informative.

Our guide, Javiera, was excellent. She was extremely knowledgeable and friendly, and she was very conscientious, going out of her way to be sure that we had an excellent tour.

The wall art in Valparaiso is fascinating, and one could spend days just wandering around, looking at all the marvelous outdoor artwork on many of the buildings.

The guide picked us up right on time, and we made good time to Valparaiso. Once there, she walked us up and down the narrow streets, winding our way through the beautiful city. Having lived in Valparaiso, she was very knowledgeable and informative, as well as accommodating when we wanted to stop to take pictures or talk more about a statue or a building. She made sure we were able to ride the various forms of transportation to experience the city a bit more like a local. She took us to a wonderful restaurant for lunch and gave us a bit of alone time to eat, and then we walked through a market and were able to buy a few things. After we left Valparaiso we went on a wine tour at a gorgeous vineyard and enjoyed some of the best wine we've had. We were dropped back off at the hotel around 6:30 pm. It was the perfect day trip and we would highly recommend it to anyone.

This was a great tour! We were picked up at and returned to our hotel and had only one other couple with us. Our guide, Felipe, is a local to Valparaiso, and his knowledge and love for the city showed. I was impressed he was able to answer all of our crazy questions and it was neat to see the city from all vantage points. We opted to have a quick lunch of empanadas instead of sitting in a restaurant, so we'd have more time seeing different parts of the city.
Our winery visit took us to the Emiliana vineyard. Beautiful place with an interesting story of how they grow their vines and why.
Ended up being a fantastic day and I'd definitely recommend this tour to anyone.

The tour was really amazing! Actually, they switch up the order so you get to do the wine tasting in the afternoon, which makes much more sense.
Our guide, Felipe, was the best. He grew up in Valparaiso and was able to tell us a lot about the history. Overall one of the best tours I and #39;ve ever taken.

Eco Chile tour company were great to deal with and their responses were very prompt. We had a limited time in Santiago and the Valpariso tour was a great way to get out of town and explore the coastal area. Loved the artwork, the colourful streets and awesome views in Valpo. We enjoyed wine tasting at the organic vineyard Emiliana and found the wine tour very informative. The explanation about how the grapes are grown, biodynamic process and the social responsibility aspects was very interesting to hear. Alejandro is an awesome guide. He is very knowledgable and provided great recommendations about places to visit and eat in Santiago. Billy the driver was highly entertaining. We had a lovely time with both Alejandro and Billy. Muchas gracias Eco Chile tours!!

Very good tour. Easy communication via e-mail with the tour guide who spoke perfect English. The vineyard tour was informative on organic grape growing and wine production. Wine tasting paired with chocolate or cheese is included. Wineshop prices are quite reasonable.

Once in Valparaiso we took a local street car to the port. Then started the walking tour. Unfortunately the funicular to take us to the first Cerro was out of service which required us to climb a series of steps I am guessing 60-80, There are a couple of other staircases to climb, but they more reasonable 10-20 stairs. Although the tour guides insisted there was no hurry to complete the climb, the stairs did take a toll on a couple of tour members. The walk around the cerro 's was very interesting- incredible street art. The funicular going down was in service, so no issues there. They took us to a nice restaurant with a view for lunch about 3pm, so be sure to eat a good breakfast before the and/tour or bring some snacks along.
