  • Swim and relax on the black sand at Perissa Beach
  • Snap panoramic photos from the island's highest point at Prophet Elias Monastery

The adventures begin late morning with pickup near many island hotels. Head first to the renowned archaeological site of Akrotiri, considered the best-preserved Minoan ruins outside of Crete (entrance fees not included). Learn about the Bronze Age civilization that thrived here between 3,000 and 1,500 BC as you explore remnants of an ancient city preserved in ash from the eruption of Mt. Thera. Or, opt to visit the Red Beach, just a short walk from Akrotiri, where you can relax and take photos.

Continue on to Perissa Beach, where you can swim and sun on the striking black sand and enjoy lunch nearby (own expense) during your free time. Climb back aboard the bus for a ride up to the 18th-century Prophet Elias Monastery, situated on the highest point of the island. Although the monastery itself is now closed to visitors, you can still admire sweeping views and snap photos from the churchyard.

In the evening, relax over tastings of Santorini’s unique volcanic varietals at the Wine museum (tasting fee included). Finally, cap off the day with a visit to Oia village, considered one of the most photogenic places on Earth. Stroll through the narrow streets, browse local boutiques, and catch a spectacular sunset over the caldera before the tour concludes with drop-off back at your departure point.

tour was good but some of the itinerary was changed due to sites not being open due to holidays. I wanted to see the archeological site and it was closed - If I knew that I would have booked on another day. Overall it was a good entertaining tour with lots of info on the islands towns and background.

Solid Foundation

Visiting Greece in the off season was a big gamble. This tour was an excellent foundation for our stay in Santorini. As it's only a day tour not everything is covered but it's a great start. If short of time I would just do this tour and a sunset cruise. Otherwise use this tour to start your holiday and then spend the rest building on it. It is important you stick to the schedule and listen to the guides instructions (easy to do as she is fluent in English).

it was so so

The guide was friendly but his English was hard to follow. I personally felt it was waste of a day. theres not a whole lot to see and do on santorini island. I would skip bus tour and do the boat tour to the caldera instead. the ancient ruins part of the tour (totally overrrated) can be done in 30 mins but the guide talked a lot and again was hard to understand. overall, knowing what it includes, I would totally skip it. the best part was going to Oia as the last stop. I wish I had more time there and you can do that on your own time with a local bus. happy travels.

Dear anonymo, thank you for your review! All our staff is English speaking and especially the guides are very experienced and knowledgeable. At this period of season some of the destinations are empty from crowd but this gives you the opportunity to admire the landscape.

Absolutely worth it

Had a very enjoyable and fulfilling day long tour. Had an absolutely amazing guide and visited places we would never have on our own. Gave ample opportunities for the shutter bugs and were never hurried. Akrotiri, wine tasting and the Oia sunset were just as we had imagined!!! Would definitely recommend even if you have only one day at Santorini.

Very Good Tour - with one caveat

We were a party of 4 and we all enjoyed the tour and felt it was a good value for the money...with just one caveat. The tour included a stop at the ancient village of Akrotiri but did not include admission to the archaeological dig of the village. This was explained in the description of the tour and we were fine with that exclusion. However, once we made the decision to purchase admission tickets to view the dig, we were surprised to learn our tour guide - Katie - was going to spend nearly 30 minutes showing our group pictures of "wall paintings" found by the archeologists. None of these pictures was part of the exhibit and, as such, any time spent on the wall paintings did not belong in the exhibit. Furthermore, since the paintings were not part of the exhibit, no one should have had to pay admission to see her collection of wall painting pictures. She could have and should have talked about the paintings on the bus or in the open areas of the park that did not require an admission fee. Anyone who opted not to buy an admission ticket didn't hear about the wall paintings. Since the pictures of the wall paintings were Katie's personal collection - and not part of the exhibit - this was in appropriate to make it part of the exhibit, as well as withhold the collection from those who didn't pay for the exhibit. Because the tour was otherwise excellent, we only subtracted one point for our overall rating but buyers should beware, this is an unfair practice by this tour guide.

Dear Compass42030658084, thank you for your review! We will take under serious consideration fact that you mentioned but please have in mind that this wall pictures are part of the excavations and is connected with the history of the culture of this civilization. All the wall pictures and other value exhibits are kept in the prehistoric museum in Fira town and note that there is additional cost for entrance!

this tour was very good, the guide was very informative, friendly and funny. I would have preferred more time at Oia than at the ruins but overall a great experience.
