What You Can Expect

Santorini Volcano Cruise Including Hot Springs, Thirasia and Optional Oia Sunset

Upgrade to experience the unforgettable Oia sunset!

After pickup from your Santorini hotel, travel to the portside at Athinios and board your comfortable sightseeing boat for your 7-hour cruise.

Find a spot on deck, settle in an enjoy the views over Santorini’s towering cliffs as you sail across the waters of the caldera to the volcanic island of Nea Kameni. This small, barren islet is a National Park and boasts a landscape formed from rugged lava and ash with a volcanic crater at its heart.

Step ashore, pay your entrance fee to the park, and enjoy roughly 1.5 hours of free time to explore the moon-like landscape. Perhaps follow the trails around the crater rim and capture the spectacular views back across to Santorini, with its shimmering white towns clinging to the cliffs.

After exploring, cruise to a small coastal bay fed by naturally heated, underwater springs. Take a dip into the invitingly warm waters that are believed to have therapeutic benefits, and perhaps rub some of the revitalizing iron-rich mud into your skin.

Duly refreshed, sail on to Thirasia, a large island basking just off Santorini’s northwest coast. Separated from Santorini by a 236 BC eruption, most of the island’s small community live in its main, clifftop village.

Go ashore and enjoy ample free time to stroll around the pretty streets and relax independently. If you’re peckish, perhaps ask your guide for restaurant recommendations and have lunch (own expense) at a taverna or café.

In the late afternoon, cruise back to Athinios port on Santorini and finish your tour with a hotel drop-off.

Cruise with Oia Sunset Visit Upgrade:Make the most of your cruise by upgrading to include a visit to the sunset village of Oia. Hop off your boat near Oia during the return cruise to Athinios, and walk up to Oia village to witness one of its famously beautiful sunsets.

Head for the cliff-edge terraces and snap photos as the sun sinks below the horizon, casting the caldera in a stunning, red-and-orange glow — it’s an unmissable sight!

After sundown, your tour then finishes with a drop-off at your island hotel.

Absolutely fabulous. You get everything on this trip - volcanoes, hot springs, a wonderful meal in Thirasia and a HUGE, aromatic climb up the caldera to Oia. Highly recommend this trip.

There a lot of tours across the volcano, but this is the one with the best ratio price/quality. I recommend to buy an extension to see the sunset in Oia. The company however needs to improve communication with its clients. We were brought to the port without knowing which boat we should get into.

is a beautiful experience but when we get to the hot springs we need to swim!!! and the ship did not give life vest. then people who did not how swim could not enjoy, and it was a bit irresponsible because the sea was deep.

The trip itself was a breathtaking experience on the Aegean Sea! I particularly like walking up the volcano. The only thing I would suggest is that the transport to and from the ship be presented more clearly. We were led to believe that we would be picked up at the hotel and we were notified the day before that this changed. Also, there was some confusion at the end of the trip as to where to get our bus to return back to the pick-up place. Fortunately we found held on to our invoice, showed it to a bus driver, who then directed us to the correct bus. All in all, it was a great experience!

My wife and I booked this excursion as part of our honeymoon and it was a lot more physically demanding than we expected. The hot springs part was first and we were unaware that from where the boat stopped to the hot springs was going to be a solid 4-5 minute swim! The actual hot springs were great, we could feel the water getting warmer and rubbed some of the volcanic soil all over our bodies which made for some great pictures! Swimming back to the boat was the worst because there was one ladder for about forty people so we had to tread water for quite awhile. After the hot springs was the volcano tour. Hiking straight up the volcano in 110-112 degrees after that swim was not ideal. The views from the top are incredible, but it's a tough hike up to the top. We were also glad we didn't book the Oia sunset part. The guests that did had to depart our boat around 4-5pm and either rent a donkey/horse or walk up the 600 stairs to where the town is situated. Not to mention that it was 4 hours or so until sunset. Our guide was great, very informative and spoke eight different languages! It's worth the trip if you can handle it physically!
