Excellent tour very enjoyable ...weat good ahoes as volcano walk is a long walk on loose stones ..rake water. The hot springs don and #39;t take good bathers as the water is brown orange colour they will be stained
Good tour due to weather conditions we lost lot of time in travelling
The only thing I would like to say is do not book this tour with viator. Wait until you are in Santorini, the prices are almost triple online than purchasing in person. Great tour and worth the money, but not 60.00 per person. We spoke with other people on the tour and they spent around 20.00 per person for the same trip.
Was a lovely trip and a wonderful day. On the return on the bus back to hotel was a bit Chaotic..Bus driver missed our stop and then we had to taxi back to hotel...not a big deal. would recommend this trip
The trip was highly organized. Our tour guide was the absolute best!! He was very knowledgable abut the geology of the volcano. Wish the hot springs were really hot a little false advertising there! Otherwise, it was a perfect day!
The tour itself was great. The guide was excellent!
However they state "hotel pickup" which did not happen. They called the day before to say to meet at a point in the city (Fira) that was about 1km walk from the hotel.
Wear comfortable shoes for the climb up the mountain and up Oia cliff as well
Very friendly and knowledgeable english speaking guide. Had an enjoyable day trip on the boat. Great views on the volcanic island but plenty of climbing and walking to do.
My husband and I had a great time climbing the volcano, swimming in the hot springs, climbing the hill in Thirasia and ending up at Oia for the sunset which is where we were staying so we did not have to get on the bus and travel back to our hotel. There are a couple of things that people need to be made aware of before they book this trip. You need to be in pretty good physical shape to do some of these things.
Climbing the volcano some people could only go to point A because it was strenuous and very hot for September. You have to swim to the hot springs about 300 metres. The donkeys dont go all the way to thetop Oia so you need to walk up some stairs.
Hot Srings are probably not that worth it. Crowded, dirty, You have to swim from the boat in which is fine but its kind of rocky and uncomfortable at times.
The volcano and Thirasia were great.
Overall - a good tour and you get to see the major sites of Santorini in an affordable manner. The guide of the tour was extremely entertaining but hard to follow. His 30 minute long explanation of the volcano could have been a Saturday Night Live skit with the contrast between his enthusiasm and bizarre statements and the complete confusion of our group. I would certainly take the trip again.
It was a good trip in regards to volcano trip and overall great experience, only downfall was overfilled boat which made it uncomfortable on the boat
and it was overcrowded when trying to see the sunset
i wont complain and it was a good experience

What they don't tell you: hot springs are really luke-warm spring and you have to swim about 100 feet to get to them the boat can't doc next to them. Oia sunset, it's not guided or anything. They literally drop you off a Oia and say, we have a bus leaving at X time after the sunset and it will drop you off. Honestly, you could pay for not getting the Oia sunset and still get off where the Oia port is. And then make you own way home the taxis are reasonably priced and you could always take the bus back to Fira for 3 Euro and take a taxi from there to save money. Volcano is super cool to see and the guide was good.
Good variety on the tour, but does include a bit of walking and, unless you're a strong swimmer, you wonkt see the hot springs because you have to swim a distance to get to them. You're left to your own devices at Oia - that was ok for us, but some might not appreciate that ( and be prepared to take a donkey ride). Tour guide is excellent.
Great day! I would suggest to put oia sunset on an other tour.
The organisation to and from is not the best and just say to go over there until(colourful)guide says over here. Then it was too much in the heat and a full(nice classic)boat of at least100people,not that relaxing.Tour of volcano drags with the guides explaining.Time at the springs 5min.Wear sneakers
Unfortunately I should have paid more attention to the reviews for this trip before booking it.
There was an air of disorganization from the start when I went to the local bus stop to be collected and the guide seemed reluctant to honour my voucher. After a call to the centre, I was allowed onto the bus and we set off. There was a vehicle change in the captial but this was not explained very clearly and we were just herded off one bus and made to stand on the sidewalk for about 10minutes before the other bus arrived.
Upon arriving at the port, we were split by language onto the boats- again there was a very herd-like feel to this- and then we set sail for the volcano. There were perhaps 100 people on the boat some even had to stand all day and it didn't have the relaxed atmosphere that I've come to know from viator trips. The size of the group also made it difficult to hear the guide and pick up interesting facts about the stops.
All of the stops were worth it- the volcano is very hot but interesting, the thermal springs are beautiful and Thirassia is stunning!
I had paid for the trip to Oia but changed my mind because it was an extremely hot day, I was quite dusty and tired, and knew that there would not be enough to fill the almost 5hours between the drop-off and the sunset. It is really a shame that the Oia part of the tour isn't guided because if you haven't been there before, the instructions from the guides on where to see the sunset/meet the bus mean absolutely nothing and are likely to be forgotten at the required hour.
Our guide was very accommodating of me opting out of the Oia part and ensured that I had transportation back to my starting point once we were on land again.
Overall I'm glad that I did the tour, but was let down by the 'mass' and somewhat rushed feel of it. I don't recommend buying the Oia option as it's self-guided and you can have more control of the experience and the cost by taking the local bus.
The Volcano had ok views, but better views are seen from the actual island of Santorini, the walk up is rocky and slippery due to loose rocks.
Hot springs weren't really hot they were orange/mud color water with warmer than sea temperature water and the mud stained my white board shorts.
Thriaisa had a few little shops and restaurants, which had ok food, no good gift shops. Did not walk up to the top.
Yes, it was OK,and mostly it was good, but could have been better.
To visit the geological park with the active volcano at Nea Kameni, was very interesting, and I found it beautiful.
The hot springs were warm, the boat trip was delightful, the explanations were very correct and exciting.
But, in your advertisement you wrote: Explore the nearby island of Thirasia at your leisure and admire the Cycladic houses.
You provided us with two hours for this activity. It was just enough to laboriously work myself up to the top of the island, collapse on a chair in Panorama restaurant, drink like a camel in an oasis, have a short bite, and I had to turn back immediately, since I didn't want to be late.
You also talk about 7 hours in your advertisement, and in the reality it wasn't more than 5,5 or maximum 6 hours.
If you would elongate this stop at Thirasia with this missing time, and would give us 3 hours instead of the two, it would be possible to do the promised thing, and admire the Cycladic houses at my leisure , and I would give you the high five.
It was especially disappointing, because in Rome I was absolutely satisfied with you, and this was the reason , why I have choose a Viator organised trip.
The tour bus was late picking us up from our hotel. The volcano itself was awesome, and we enjoyed the hot springs. However, we did the optional sunset tour, and the bus back to Thira left Oia way too early. We had to leave before the sun even set to grab a quick dinner to get on the bus. When we got to the bus, we sat there for awhile before leaving. Additionally, we found the same tour without the Oia sunset for about 25 euros cheaper in downtown Thira.
It was ok. Not exactly what was described on the website. There is no guide in Oia for the sunset so don't bother with the upgrade, you can do it yourself. Also the tour guide made us feel unwelcome. If I ever went again I would go with someone else.
Would not recommend this tour
Disorganized ,tend to treat you like sheep
U cannot access the hot springs if you cannot swim in the ocean without safety vests which are not provided
There are all rocky beaches in thirasia and you cannot swim without fear of hitting a rock
You cannot go into the ocean barefoot because there is no beach just plain rocks
All 6 in the group came back disappointed
Not recommended even if it is free
This cruise does not include drinks and food. The only food available from the boat was a fruit salad and ham and cheese baguette which you would have to buy from the bar.
The volcano tour is very fast paced, the ''pathways'' are very rough and up hill so wear good running shoes. We only had a 30 minute stop in the ''hot'' springs, by the time all the people went in the sea were left with just a 10 minute stop in the warm springs.
To top it all off... the famous sunset in Oia.. you have to walk all the way up to Oia and wait for the time the sun sets, it is not timed well and you cannot view it from the boat, which for this price would have been much nicer! Oia is busy during sunset and that is why we wanted to see the sunset from the boat but were extremely disapointed when they told us to get off and go to Oia! Very disappointed, waste of money AND misleading choice of words! Never again Viator!
