What You Can Expect

Savannah Small-Group Ghost Tour by Bus

Ghost bus tour

Arrange for a hotel pickup ($5 surcharge), then begin this 90-minute, small-group ghost bus tour of Savannah at the Pirates’ House in the center of town on East Broad Street. Inside the tavern, learn about its history, including its place in the Robert Louis Stevenson classic Treasure Island.

After boarding the bus, watch clips from TV shows like “Scariest Places on Earth” and “Ghost Hunters” to set the mood. Then set off to explore downtown Savannah’s Historic District, one of the most haunted places in America.

The Savannah Historic District was the center of colonial government in the 1700s. It was where the first reading of the Declaration of Independence took place in Georgia. Much of the town’s historically significant buildings are located here, in one of the largest National Historic Landmark Districts in the US.

Why is Savannah so superstitious? And why is it considered one of the most haunted cities in America? Find out from the knowledgeable local guide on this tour. Learn about local legends like Jim Williams, the house hauntings (even the occasional house exorcism), plus the old Gullah traditions and superstitions, some of which are still practiced today. After exploring the city and its haunted sites, return to the Pirates’ House to conclude the tour.

This tour went with only our party onboard! We were very happy that they didn't cancel the tour due to the low number of poeple, but decided to run it anyway. I'm not a big ghost fan but our guide made it interesting for us. The tour bus takes you to the same sites as the walking tours, we saw one or more walking tours at each stop, but we didn't have to walk there, a big plus for us.

This tour was not what we had hoped for. The driver was very nice but did not seem to be in character for a Ghost Tour. It was interesting to hear about the movies that have been made in Savannah but a little more local lore would have made this much more fun!
Having taken the walking tour before and enjoying it thoroughly, I did not think this tour was of the same ilk. Certainly we all know that any Ghost tour is full of 'tall tales' but this one was rote and not very entertaining. I do not recommend this tour unless you are unable to walk around the city.
