Mt. Rainier Day Trip from Seattle

Mt Rainier Day Trip from Seattle

This Mt Rainier day trip begins with a convenient hotel pickup in Seattle. Then prepare for a narrated, scenic drive featuring Alder Lake Park and the town of Eatonville at the foothills of Mt Rainier.

Stop at Longmire, the visitor center at the southwest corner of the park, to explore their museum and National Park Inn. Visit Christine Falls, with one of the signature views in Mt Rainier National Park (look for the bridge). Then walk along the Nisqually River up to Narada Falls, considered the most popular waterfall in Mt Rainier State Park. It’s taller than Niagara Falls at 188 feet.

Then it’s off to the pinnacle event of the day: the view at Paradise, which is 5,400 feet above sea level. Purchase lunch here and take in the incredible view of Mt Rainier and the valley below. Be on the lookout for wildlife wandering around the mountain at any time.

At this time, choose from an optional snowshoe or sled adventure, if conditions allow. During the summertime, simply enjoy the scene at Reflection Lake, which provides one of the most iconic views of Mt Rainier. It’s absolutely breathtaking. Be sure to bring a camera.

Finally, visit the Henry M. Jackson Memorial Visitor Center at Paradise to learn more about the history of Mt Rainier, including a brief film about it.

Then it’s back down the mountain to hit the road back to Seattle.

Absolute highlight of the trip! Great for the whole family! We had beautiful weather and were able to go up to Paradise! Not much actual hiking involved which makes it accommodating to all ages and activity level. Some of the most beautuful scenery I have ever seen. About 4 of the 10 hours are travel 300 miles but the drive is breathtaking. Be sure to dress in layers.

This day trip was amazing! Our guide Joe was absolutely one of the best, very knowledgeable about Seattle and Mt Rainier (an excellent reason to do guided trips), very entertaining (didn't feel like a 10hr trip), and very efficient (enough time to explore wherever we stopped). All in all, a must-do!

The weather didn't exactly cooperate, but we made the best of it. Joe was a fantastic guide and prepared for any conditions. He had jackets, boots, hats, gloves, and everything else needed to keep us warm and dry.

It was totally unexpectedly amazing trip! We were lucky that snow stopped on the day we were there and it was snowing the days before we went, so we had clean and white snow all over the place. We had so much fun in the snow, able to catch some wildlife along the way up to Mt Rainier. Our guide was just awesome to let us take lots of beautiful photos and even bringing us to the snow walking. Worth all the money that we paid for this trip! Highly recommend to go visit during winter to get beautiful photos

Awesome tour! Joe our tour guide was a funny guy and very informative about many things! For those of you that are looking for extra information about the trip, here you go. Joe had plenty of extra supplies for those who needed it gators, gloves, coats, boots, and water but I would recommend you bring your own to save time being fitted for these things. The snow is very very deep in March,so you need all of these things! Sunglasses are a must! The sun is blinding! When traveling we did make a couple stops for bathroom breaks and food, also we stopped at some views of the falls Narada and Christine Falls. And when you reach Paradise, you will eat lunch there, explore the museum and gift shop then be able to go sledding and snowshoeing spending a few hours on the mountain. Now, the snowshoeing is not a long hike so it's very easy for everyone. Hope you consider this tour, it was a must do when in Seattle!

Best trip I've ever taken in LIFE! I dont know how this happened but our Tour Guide was nothing short of amazing. I took this trip on my birthday and somehow our guide knew of this information and bought me a cake!! I've NEVER had a complete stranger be soooo nice and generous enough as to buy me a custom cake and allow everyone on our tour 15 people to help me celebrate! The guide was very comical, knowledgeable, friendly and full of advice to help us enjoy this tour thoroughly. We made multiple stops to take pictures and the guide always had advice on best pictures and places to see while on our tour. Thanks everyone on the Tour Guide Team who make these tours a success everyday! I without a doubt enjoyed every moment of this tour. Thank You!!

Wonderful trip! Our guide MADE the trip! Im ashamed to admit Ive forgotten his name, but Ill never forget how outstanding he was. He reminded me of a leftover hippie minus any of the negative connotation of that description! He was prompt, thoughtful he bought me a birthday cake!, knowledgeable, funny and professional. The landscape was breathtaking and our guides repertoire of information, historical tidbits, and humorous delivery made the day go by with time undetected. We were able to stop for photo ops whenever possible, bathroom breaks were plenty, attention to local fauna was observed, and on the mountain we were encouraged to take a small snowshoeing trek. I would go again for the 12-hour tour in a heartbeat.
