What To Expect

This Mt Rainier day trip begins with a convenient hotel pickup in Seattle or near the SeaTac Airport. Then prepare for a narrated, scenic drive featuring Alder Lake Park and the town of Eatonville at the foothills of Mt Rainier.

Stop at Longmire, the visitor center at the southwest corner of the park, to explore their museum and National Park Inn. Visit Christine Falls, with one of the signature views in Mt Rainier National Park (look for the bridge). Then walk along the Nisqually River up to Narada Falls, considered the most popular waterfall in Mt Rainier State Park. It’s taller than Niagara Falls at 188 feet.

Then it’s off to the pinnacle event of the day: the view at Paradise, which is 5,400 feet above sea level. Purchase lunch here and take in the incredible view of Mt Rainier and the valley below. Be on the lookout for wildlife wandering around the mountain at any time.

During the wintertime, choose from an optional snowshoe or sled adventure, if conditions allow. During the summertime, simply enjoy the scene at Reflection Lake, which provides one of the most iconic views of Mt Rainier. It’s absolutely stunning. Be sure to bring a camera.

Finally, visit the Henry M. Jackson Memorial Visitor Center at Paradise to learn more about the history of Mt Rainier, including a brief film about it.

Then it’s back down the mountain to hit the road back to Seattle.

Traveler Tips

Being in a small group (13p) makes it easy to follow up on request.
Plus Point - Joe has spare gloves, jackets, socks, snow shoes for tourists who come unprepared!
One caveat is that even in July you would be advised to wear shoes for trail walking, long pants and a water-repellent jacket.

Mt Rainier - The best day ever
Patrick_M, Mar 2023
Lucas was an amazing guide up to the mountain. His knowledge of the area made for a great trip from Seattle to Mt Rainier. We had the best weather possible for hiking in the snow and for viewing all of the surrounding mountains. We started at elev. 5200 and went to 6010. Others in our group went much higher. I highly recommend this trip to all skill sets.
Response from Host, Mar 2023
Thank you for touring with us and providing Lucas a review. We are glad you enjoyed the experience.

Fun and quick day trip to Mt Rainier!
Cara_B, Mar 2023
Our tour guide was Lucas and he was very good at his job. He was obviously knowledgeable and capable which was comforting as we made our way through the park on winding roads. Before going to the park, Lucas stopped a little an hour out at a Fred Myer for us to pick up food, snacks, and sunglasses/gear (very kind that he emphasized the importance of sunglasses during the winter time to protect our eyes from the sun reflecting off the snow). We stopped off at Christine Falls before heading to the visitor center which was where the Skyline Trail trailhead was. Many in our group took that trail to Panorama point and backtracked (which is what my travel partner and I decided to do but we didn’t quite make it to the top). We had about 4 hours to hike/explore on our own. Then Lucas took the group on the short walk to Narada Falls before heading back to downtown Seattle. He kindly offered to change any drop off locations to restaurants instead of hotels if we wanted to grab dinner somewhere else in the city. I would recommend this tour, it is worth the price. Only downside is that I wish we had more time in the park to hike so I didn’t feel as rushed but not a deal breaker, we got back to Seattle at a reasonable time a little before 7 PM.
Response from Host, Mar 2023
Thank you for providing Lucas with a review. 4 hours to hike it awesome, not all guests are able to receive that much time depending on weather and road closures. I am glad you enjoyed the tour.
Our last tour after a 4 week break and it was fantastic
Aaron_P, Mar 2023
Loved it! The tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable and the big tour bus was lovely and warm with large windows so visibility was clear. Lot's of beautiful scenery driving through miles and miles of countryside and then edging closer to snow when travelling through the hills in the mountains. It's amazing how you can be driving in sun with no snow all the way into blizzards and snow during January. At the top the tour guide provides snow shoes to explore the area. You can also drop into the large visitor centre and store as well as the movie theatre showing the history of the area. We went on a Saturday and it wasn't busy at all, lots of space to roam and see the sights. Even the local tourist stores on the way weren't that busy but I heard they are packed during really snowy season so bear that in mind when you travel. Lots to see, tons of scenery to be in awe of and the transition from cold to freezing and snow blizzards was brilliant. Wrap up warm!! After a 4 week tour of USA/Canada this was a last minute last day addition and so glad we did this. It finished off our holiday with great memories.
Response from Host, Mar 2023
Thank you so much for sharing your experience. We are happy to hear you enjoyed your time and so grateful you chose our company to tour with while in the USA.

Exceptional day tour
Julie_V, Mar 2023
Exceptional day! Easy pick up from our hotel, comfy minibus with a star tour guide Jo. Jo kept us entertained with facts and stories throughout the day. He also supplied us with delicious cupcakes at the end of the day! The tour itself had some great stop points for pictures. The drive through to Paradise was stunning - fresh snow and bright blue sky. Snow shoeing was such fun and enabled us to take even more fabulous pics. Highly recommend trip

The best day up in Mt Rainier
Miguelngel_S, Mar 2023
What is not fun about traveling to a National Park? Seriously, this company and Lucas, our tour guide, delivered. From the moment I booked the tour the company was very helpful helping me decide a pick up point. Then when the day came Lucas was right on time. Boy does he know facts about Mt Rainier and the surrounding mountains. He loves his job and it shows. Unfortunately the weather was not our friend. It snowed most of the day and we really could not see the top of the mountain. Nonetheless I had a lot of fun. Too bad we didn’t get to hike that much either due to the fresh snow. All in all, when I come back to Seattle. I’d choose these guys to take me to see any National Park in the area. Worth every penny.
Response from Host, Mar 2023
Thank you so much for joining us to tour Mt. Rainier. We are glad you were satisfied with our customer service and guide Lucas. Sorry the weather did not cooperate but we are so happy to hear you will join us again. Thank you for touring with us and recommending to others!

Madison_S, Feb 2023
Our tour guide Lucas was amazing, he kept us entertained with stories and facts the whole ride to the mountain. He stopped at a grocery store so that we could buy any last minute gear such as sunglasses and also to stock up on food/snacks/coffee. He gave us snow shoes to navigate the snow easily. This was one of the coolest things my husband and I have ever done!

Joe was an amazing tour guide from start to finish. He was charismatic, informative and hilarious. The views of mount rainier were amazing. The overview of the mountains and snow was awesome. It wasn’t that cold at all with proper attire. Would recommend to anyone who’s second guessing this tour. It’s amazing and worth every cent

Winter wonderland!
Kristine_D, Jan 2023
I went on the tour on a winter and still a breathtaking experience for me. I will definitely go back on summer to do more hikes. I wish we could've spent more than 2 hrs in the park for more time to hike.
Response from Host, Jan 2023
Please do visit in the summer time. The experiences are very different. We do offer private tours where you can customize your itinerary. That may be a better way to go next time. Thank you for touring with us
Awesome trip despite bad weather
Nam_N, Dec 2022
As this is my first trip outside of my home country and the US, I'm more than satisfied with this tour. Cory was extremely considerate and helpful throughout the tour to make sure we have the best experience possible even though the weather did not support us during this (quite rainy and a lot of snow). I'd recommend going on this tour in the summer for the full experience as there were some scenes we didn't get to see due to the weather. I will definitely go on this tour again on my future trips to the States as there will be more to explore when the weather is nicer. Thanks again.
Response from Host, Dec 2022
Thank you so much for choosing our Company to experience Mt. Rainier. The weather can be unpredictable during the winter season, but we are glad you were still able to enjoy what Cory offered. We look forward to you joining us again in the summer months!
