What You Can Expect

Seattle to Friday Harbor Seaplane Flight

Aerial views from the seaplane

Make your way to Friday Harbor Seaplanes' hangar, located in Renton, Washington, approximately 25 minutes from downtown Seattle.

Meet your experienced pilot, then climb aboard the 6-passenger de Havilland DHC-2 Beaver and make yourself comfortable. This single-engine plane, kitted out with floats, is the perfect vehicle for exploring the scenic landscape of the San Juan Islands.

As the plane takes off, don your headset, which allows you to listen to your pilot's commentary about the sights you pass. Zoom over Seattle's skyline and get an unusual aerial view of the famous space needle. Pass billionaire Bill Gates' lakeside compound and get fantastic views of both the Cascade and Olympic Ranges. Be sure to have your camera ready for splendid photo ops of marine wildlife like minke whales, orcas, sea lions and seals.

After the 50-minute flight, come in for a water landing at Friday Harbor on San Juan Island, located 90 miles (145 km) north of Seattle. Deplane in Friday Harbor and set off to the explore the rest of the San Juan Islands.
