Overview

The Third Infiltration Tunnel and the Dora Observatory are two of the most important sites along South and North Korea’s DMZ (Demilitarized Zone), but they’re almost impossible to visit without a guide. This convenient full-day bus and walking tour from Seoul makes it possible to visit both sites, and discover other areas of interest including the Imjingak Pyeonghoa-Nuri Peace Park and Unification Village in one day. Discover the highlights of the DMZ, and listen as a guide sheds light on the region’s complex politics. This tour does not include any compulsory visits to shopping centers.
  • 9-hour tour of Paju, the DMZ and the Third Infiltration Tunnel from Seoul
  • Explore the Imjingak Pyeonghoa-Nuri Peace Park with a guide
  • Visit the Third Infiltration Tunnel, dug by the North Koreans to attack Seoul
  • Gaze out into North Korea from the Dora Observatory
  • Discover top attractions including Dorasan railway station and Unification Village
  • Enjoy a traditional South Korean lunch in a local restaurant
  • Tour includes pickup and drop-off at your Seoul hotel
Your morning starts with pickup between 7:30am and 8:30am from your centrally located Seoul hotel. After the drive out of the capital, visit the Imjingak Pyeonghoa-Nuri Peace Park — a symbol of the division between North and South Korea. Cross the Peace Bridge and listen as your guide explains the desire some Koreans have for reunification.

Hop back on the bus, and head onward to the Third Infiltration Tunnel — dug by the North Koreans and discovered by the South Korean authorities on 17th October, 1978. Here, gain insight into the plans the North Korean military allegedly had to attack Seoul.

Visit the Dora Observatory — a site along the Demilitarized Zone where North Korean military personnel are often visible — and take in top sites of interest including Dorasan railway station and Unification Village. Along the way, learn of the role the Demilitarized Zone plays in maintaining peace between North and South Korea.

Enjoy lunch in a traditional South Korean restaurant, and arrive back at your hotel between 3:00pm to 3:30pm to conclude your tour.

lunch was ok, but the tour was excellent

The tour was okay, but it definitely could have been better. For starters, it is actually only a half-day tour - although advertised as a full-day. We discussed this with our guide, but she wasn't responsible for the marketing, so she couldn't do anything about it. Also, every stop we made was very short - 10 to 15 minutes, which wasn't enough time to see anything especially at the memorial - it was only enough time to run to the bathroom.

The tour was in a private car, with myself, my husband, and four travellers from the Philippines. The tour guide/ driver drove very safely, no worries getting to or from the DMZ. Once at the DMZ we got on a tour bus. There were other tour groups on the bus and we got information from another tour guide, it would have been too much to have two guides talking at once and she seemed more experienced than our guide. The walk down to the third tunnel was very steep, so very important to wear good walking shoes! The day was quite foggy/ hazy so couldn't see much from the observation area. Lunch at a local restaurant was very good local food. Don't know if the tour was very informative, but it was a very interesting part of the world to see.

Casey, our Tour Guide was awesome, she explained the history well and was prepared with some laminated pages for visuals on the way to the DMZ. Lunch was underwhelming, we enjoyed much better meals on our 7 day South Korea Tour we finished the day prior.

We had a great time on this tour! We enjoyed visiting Dorasan Observatory and the 3rd Infiltration Tunnel. Lunch was delicious! The only thing I didn't like was that they took us to the Duty Free Mall. We had already done a ton of shopping and prices are cheaper elsewhere.

This tour was informative and interesting. Our guide gave us very good history and facts. We didn't realize it until we arrived to view the introduction video that we visited on the 66th anniversary of the start of the Korean War which increased the significance of the tour for us.

Loved our guide, but she could not answer a number of questions when asked. Seemed distracted because they were running late.
