What a fabulous day we had! Penny Pung was our private guide. She has lived in Shanghai since 2004 and knows the city and how to make things happen! We had done many of the included items with our group tour which we did not realize would happen. When Penny arrived, we asked how flexible we could be and she said Very! We were able to go back and spend more time at one place, add on a few extras, and had a great time. Penny has taught Mandarin and English so her command of both languages is excellent. We had no issues with communication whatsoever and she taught us a bit of Mandarin over the course of the day. I was traveling with my mother and my son who is 14 and both adored Penny. She knows so much of the history of Shanghai and China in general. She also took us to a lovely lunch which was a nice change of pace from our group tour meals which were good filled with big tables, lots of people and lazy susans. The food was excellent and the setting was a nice change. Not so fast paced. If you need a private guide in Shanghai, Penny is your 'girl!'
