We booked this transfer hoping it would be easier than trying to get a taxi. What a mistake! Firstly the tour guide was not at Gate 1 outside the terminal which was where we were instructed to meet her. She was apparently at Gate 2 inside. We had difficulty getting to Gate 1 as instructed but eventually got outside we were not allowed near gate 1 inside the terminal and waited there in the burning sun for more than half an hour with no luck. There was no entry or exit into or out of Gate 1. My husband went back inside with difficulty as security would not let him back out but was still not able to find anyone holding a sign with our name on it. Eventually we called the tour operator and was informed to wait where we were and we would be located. A very flustered young girl eventually found us and briefly told us to wait where we were while she tried to find another couple! Again we waited in the sun. She eventually returned and told us to come inside. She was off again to find the other couple. She returned some time later with 2 options - 1 We could walk at least 1km over the bridge in the sun with all our luggage or 2 wait and see if she could get a car into the terminal to take us across the bridge to meet the car to take us to our hotel. We waited. She eventually got a car in to go across the bridge but it didn't fit 4 people and their luggage! We were lucky as being first into the car we were able to stay there. After much heated conversation with the other couple the car we were in was dispatched to take us directly to our Hotel instead of waiting on the other side of the bridge. What a terrible mix up! Never again! Taxis were readily available.
This was a disaster. We had arranged to be picked up at 9 00am from the cruise terminal. We left the ship and we waited and looked around to find our name. This took a while. She told us the driver was held up. We heard her talking to the driver. In the end she asked us to come outside and put our luggage in an other taxi car with 2 people inside. I said our luggage would not fit and there was no room . I asked was this a shared taxi as I didn't book a shared. She said our driver would take over a hour to get to the terminal, so she suggested if we walk to the end of the pier he would meet us. Please bear in mind it was 86 degrees. After a while I said we would walk. We had a trolley which caught in the cracks and kept sticking so the luggage cases kept falling off and getting scraped. We finally reached the end and he still wasn't there, so she asked us to walk down to the traffic lights, further on. We eventually got into the taxi and reached the hotel after 2 hours. This all should have been taken into consideration for the taxi to reach the pier terminal. I know 2 cruise ships was in dock but that was not my problem. I do think this service was not a very good entry to Shanghai by a couple who I think had been called on to take us to the hotel at the last minute.
Having booked other taxi drivers in the past through Viator this was not the service I expected from you .
