Our guide rocked!, company on the bus was great and the evening was wonderful, we got a true taste of Cambodian life and a great meal, highly recommended
Very interesting experience. We enjoyed visiting the village and the lake provided a beautiful backdrop for our dinner.
Tour guide was friendly. Beautiful evening!
We took a minibus to the port. While on the way to the cruise, we had opportunities to look at the way of life of nearby village and floating village and saw a lotus field. Next, we took a cruise down Tonle Sap to a big boat where we had free flow beer and dinner while watching the sunset across the horizon. Amazing view and good food and drinks! Highly recommend to tourists who needed a break from the city.
Wow, amazing experience. The trip out to the lake was very interesting and the floating village even more so. The tour boat took us right though the heart of the village and the guide was very informative. Dinner onboard the larger boat out on the lake was also good and even their wasn't a clear night the sunset was still quite impressive. We also visited a lotus farm enroute to the boat. We loved the tour and learnt a great deal about Cambodian life
The view of the sunset was fabulous. The ride over Tonle Sap was fantastic triggering excellent memories. The dinner was simple but was sufficient . We will definitely recommend it to visitors.
what a fantastic experience , after getting picked up from my hotel on time , we were driven in a air conditioned mini bus to the boat station, after getting on the boat we were then taken up river out onto the tonle sap lake, where first we visited a crocodile farm, and also got to see how the locals live out on the lake which is a fantastic opportunity, and a real eye opener
after the crocodile farm , we was back on the boat for a short trip to the floating restaurant, where there is a free bar!! , also the food was great with plenty to around , while watching the sun set over Tonle sap lake, afterwards we were transported back to are hotels
this was a great trip and met some fantastic friendly people, would recommend this tour while in siem reap
I was quite disappointed as I made a request with Viator on the transportation request but was ignored. Anyway, the trip was good. Buffet dinner was limited. Not much choices. View is ok.
Very pleasant tour - the boat ride was great, the dinner and drinks were fairly basic but I can really complain for the price!
Really an enjoyable and relaxing time. You also get a full understanding as to how the islanders live in this lifetime as was surprised when it was over 1 million.
We had an enjoyable time, especially as the guide was friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable. We were a little disappointed since the big boat ,named Tara?, was not available.the floating village and the sunset were very special.
As a photography enthusiast, I booked this tour with a fantastic sunset shoot by the Tonle Sap in mind. However, the weather did not cooperate, and the skies turned darker as evening drew nearer. It would be good to keep in mind to take this trip, if you're one for sunsets, with minimal chance of rain in the weather forecast.
Nonetheless, the tour was well-organized. I was picked-up at my guesthouse on time, the guide speaks good English, the boat ride was quite smooth but it was a bit rough on the way back since it started raining, the floating restaurant where we had dinner was strategically located for awesome sunset shots, and the food served was great.
Overall, it was a good experience.
Enjoy the sights of floating village.
Crocodile and fish farm too small.
Buffet dinner satisfactory.
Our pick up from the hotel was delayed by over 30 minutes!
However, the guide forgot his name! sorry! was a friendly chap. He made it a point to interact with all guests separately and share relevant information. This was really needed considering how noisy the boat was.
The lotus fields and the crocodile farm were nothing amazing doesn't help that I don't like being around those reptiles!
The final dinner itself was on a different boat and incidentally our group of 8 was the only tour for dinner that evening.
This helped us all enjoy the sunset experience in a sea of calm pun unintended on the boat!
It was a really gorgeous sunset - thanks to the limited tour size.
There were many vegetarian options during dinner and food was decent.
The smells and sights enroute the boat tour itself were quite disturbing at times and the tour might not be suited for those who are very sensitive.
Tour was slightly boring. Didn't get to see sunset as the sky was cloudy.
Only got to see the village from afar, which I understand, yet was led to belive that it was a village trip, and not just passing the village .
The food was edible, but not spectacular in any way.
The meal takes place on an old hulk which is static, and not on a moving boat.
We looked it as a romantic anniversary trip and were fortunate that there were not lots of people as actually its just another of thoes excuses for a pissup, as one gets all the free alcohol one wants, but for us that hardly have more than a pint or two its a waste of time.
Dont recommend it except as a way to see the river, but then dont pay for the meal.
No issues with organisation. Not sure all details are clear on information, eg the Tara boat does not cruise, it is at a fixed mooring. The stops at the Lotus Farm and Crocodile Farm are ok and you learn a little bit, but do not add much. Returning to the Lake after 16 years I left with a distinct impression that the area has not enjoyed any development - the floating communities are very poor, and some of the begging is quite sad. Free bar is a big plus, but the food was average not huge variety, and luke warm. Overall an Ok tour if you are in town for a long stay, and like your cocktails, but on balance would not recommend.
This was my least favourite Viatour. It did not match up to expectations leaving out many of the things listed. Places we should have stopped at to look. The guide did not tell us much at all, granted it was difficult on the little boat because of noise levels. The one place we did stop which I would rather not have was the crocodile farm. What a disturbing place. Three crocodile of a fair size cramped into a tiny area under the jetty. It could only be described as a cess pit. There were empty drink bottles, little dead fish floating on the surface and lots of garbage. Also little children on small boats pulled up alongside the jetty almost naked draped with large snakes. The snakes has their eyes and mouths taped up.
The meal was passable and there was plenty of it. The unlimited drinks was a bit of a joke. Yes there were unlimited drinks. It just depends on what you drink. The sparkling wine...................a sickly red sparkling liquid. Any resemblance to wine was just fleeting! The white variety was non alcoholic. There was plenty of beer and spirits if that is your tipple.
Our guide was very attentive and caring, helping me on and off the little boat. On the negative side, he was badly in need of a handkerchief. On the journey back to the hotel he sniffed loudly the whole way and spat out of the window. Yuk, really off putting.
Note from Viator: Diane, thank you for your review. We appreciate your feedback and apologize that the floating village did not meet your expectations of cleanliness. We have reached out to our local supplier and made them aware of your concerns.
One of the ideas of booking this is the boat journey. It's not helpful when the boat entirely breaks down and you need a tow..
I would absolutely find another provider who can at least get you to the location safely.
The other downsides really relates to the location. This is not a cruise through a traditional romantic floating village, but a run through a garbage dump Trash everywhere like location that quite honestly was dreadful. Yes, this is our own opinion and people do live here but there is little romance when you smell sewage constantly and pass floating brothels.
The food was just ok - Imagine bad/bland chinese food covered in flies and you get the idea.
Spend another day in the temples instead.
Didn't enjoy this at all. Was advertised as cruise but turn out to be just a very old and dirty sampan to get to a big old boat that is stationary. Not a cruse at all. LOw quality. Not recommended.
This tour was not as expected and certainly the advertising indicated it was a dinner cruise when in fact the dinner is on an old boat sitting in the middle of weeds at the edge of the lake. The food was not pleasant and the boat was in poor repair. However the boat ride through the floating village was impressive and could have been a trip on its own with out the dinner to spoil it. The tour guide tried to be helpful but regrettably a lot got lost in translation. Overall this trip was dispaointing but did not detract from the great time we had in Cambodia. Lovely Country and great people.
We realized we would not be able to make the trip due to our arrival in siem Reap. We tried to call and were cut off, and then no one answered. I sent an email but no response. Can't say I felt like I could use this service again. We would have rescheduled.
This was disappointing. We were in a small boat, didn't learn much from our guide, and the boat captain was pretty gross--spitting over the side, driving too close to other boats, and drinking beer during the tour. It was interesting to see the floating village and get a sense of how they live, but the visits to the church, school, and other sites were just drive-by's that were pointed out. The dinner was on a small floating restaurant, not one of the larger ones in that area. Overall, definitely not worth the time or money.
