Snæfellsnes is a beautiful peninsula located on the west side of Iceland. The stories of the hidden powers of Snæfellsjökull glacier have traveled the world.
Travelling through the Snæfellsnes peninsula and Snæfellsjökull National Park you will experience the small village of Arnarstapi and the dramatic landscape of Hellnar where you can enjoy lunch at a sweet café by the shore (lunch not included).
Visit Vatnshellir cave and follow the path of the lava flow, about 200 metres into the cave and 35 metres below the surface, to see amazing colours and lava formations in the 8,000-year-old cave. From the dark underworld of Vatnshellir the tour takes you to Djúpalónssandur; a tranquil, black-pebbled beach that offers beautiful views out to the sea and fascinating history.
Enjoy the sight of Kirkjufell, a mountain known for its beauty and unique symmetric shape, and probably the most photographed mountain in all of Iceland.
With some additional stops along the route we hope you’ll feel the magical influence of the Snæfellsjökull glacier.
If you take one tour, this should be it! The scenery and guides were awesome. The bus was comfortable and a great way to travel on this tour.
Wow this was the best day ever. We had a very informative guide who gave us all sorts of general information about Iceland. The National Park was spectacular, remote and beautiful. The cave was good fun. The silence eerie. The guide got us to turn off all our torches and then he sang a song to us, it was magical. The coastal scenery was very dramatic.
I wish I could remember our tour guide's name. He was wonderful--knowledgeable, patient hello, stragglers!, and clearly in love with his magical country. This tour took us from the beach of Ytri Tunga where we saw some seals hanging out on the rocks, to the coastal town of Arnarstapi where I captured one of my favorite photos, to a short tour of a cave, and lastly to a combo mountain/waterfall photo op at Kirkjufell. Considering the variety of landscape, I'd say this was the perfect tour to end our Iceland vacation. Highly recommend.
very good trip, very good itinery and very good organizzation, i did this trip with gray line tours, the best and the best organizzed in Iceland, they are very organizzed, they don t miss time they give vale to your money and they pick you up from everywhere, the places are very nice and interesting and this is a so so nice part of iceland even if the most of people don t take care if it
We enjoyed our tour. Our guide DeeDee was wonderful and very knowledgeable.
We had a wonderful time! The tour guide was excellent and my students had a lot of fun down in the cave, and also seeing all of the wildlife by the shore. Definitely a great excursion if you are in Iceland for a short time.
Incredible, but very physical, tour. The cave exploration required a walk of 127 stairs down and the same number up on a tightly winding staircase. Likewise, hikes to most other areas, including beautiful black beaches, were over unpaved rock strewn paths. If you are physically fit, don't miss it.
This Grayline tour is amazing and we have a sunny day, can't ask for more. Tour guide Tanja was very attentive and helped us to take photos. A job well done and exceeded expectation.
This was a great day trip with many, many stops. Lots to see from glacier mountain, to jagged coastline to volcano cave walk. The driver was very informative as he gave many an interesting story, historical, mythical, as well as geographical.
