What You Can Expect

Amalfi Coast Day Trip from Sorrento

Marvel at the intricate architectural details of Villa Rufolo

Board your air-conditioned coach outside your central Sorrento hotel (or at another nearby spot, if your hotel is inaccessible to coaches) and meet your guide to begin your day trip along the Amalfi Coast. Settle into your seat and gaze out the windows at the sparkling sea or terraced gardens and pastel-colored buildings, depending on which way you look.

Your first stop is Positano, a tiered village built onto the side of the cliffs. Spend a few minutes capturing the famous views with your camera - or simply your memory - before hopping back on the coach for the next leg of the journey - the town of Amalfi.

Explore Amalfi at your own pace, visiting the iconic multi-colored 9th-century cathedral or browsing the rows of shops along the town’s side-streets. You can even arrange to take a boat tour to the nearby little villages of Conca dei Marini, Maiori and Minor (own expense).

After visiting Amalfi, board the bus once again to climb up to hilltop Ravello, your final stop. This little town is famous for two villas that both have large gardens and breathtaking views of the sea - Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrone - and you’ll have free time in Ravello to see them for yourself. Entrance tickets for Villa Rufolo are included.

Soak in more of the Amalfi Coast’s famous views on the coach ride back to Sorrento, where your tour finishes back where it began.

The drive is very scenic from Sorrento to Amalfi and Ravello. TIP: View is on your right side..so sit behind the guide's seat. The driver's side is the mountain side Our driver Michael and guide Rosella were great. They stopped at some very nice spots with beautiful views for enough time to make pictures. My husband and I had decided to rent a bike from Sorrento and go to Amalfi on our own. But we are so glad we didn't do that and went for this tour instead. The road is difficult for bikes. Our driver was safe and experienced. We had enough time in Amalfi and Ravello. In this tour you don't go INTO Positano. You can see Positano from the top 1 stop to make pictures and another stop to get a coffee or a bite and to use the free rest room. In Amalfi, for 15 euros extra you can go around the islands for 1 hour in a speed boat which is worth it coz there's not much to do in Amalfi after you've seen the church in its square. When you get back there's time to grab a bite and pick up a few souvenirs. TIP: If you want to buy not so expensive souvenirs, do so in Amalfi. Positano and Ravello are more expensive. If you feel the heat in Amalfi, you ll feel the cool in Ravello. Sit in the square enjoy the cool breeze with a nice cup of cappuccino while taking in the view or walk around the town. Be prepared for a long drive back to Sorrento. But Michael and Rosella were kind enough to stop for free limoncello sampling and rest room break. They also gave us a screening about how limoncello is made. TIP: Buy your bottle of limoncello here as it is authentic and price is the same if you pick the same bottle elsewhere but there are lot of cheaper and unauthentic bottles sold elsewhere.

An amazing experience. Rosella, our guide, was fantastic. She made our tour experience memorable. She was so well-versed in telling us about the area and offered many suggestions for shopping, dining, and touring the area further. Rosella was extremely enthusiastic about our tour and showing us the wonderful, dreamy Amalfi Coast.
