Great experience. Would advise that if you want to get to the top of Vesuvius, you need to be prepared for one heck of an uphill hike, with limited time to do it. Other than that, Pompeii was amazing, our tour guide was outstanding.
Our guide for Pompeii was Fabio, and he was a font of knowledge - his enthusiasm for the site really shone through. He was able to really bring the ruins to life, and gave us a glimpse into the daily workings of the city. The pace of the tour was perfect - not too fast, but we were not hanging around either. The ruins themselves are amazing, but the help of an experienced guide really made a difference by making this a very enjoyable day.
Our guide, Fabrizio, was excellent. He was informative, entertaining and patient with all the tour guests. The bus driver was on time and a good driver considering all the twists and turns of the road.
My husband and I have just returned from Sorrento we booked with Viator for the Mt Vesuvius and Ponpeii tour and Christine was our guide for the day she was great very knowlegable and very passionate for the history of Pompeii and Vesuvius. We were picked up
from our hotel at 8.00 and returned at 6.45 so along day but it was worth it. We were given radio transmittion deviies so you never missed any thing. She also saved us time queing she got all our tickets and we paid latter on the bus.The very top of Vesuvius was unguided and was free to make your own way but the views were amazing. The tour was very informative and well organised. I would highly recomend this spendid tour with a life time of memories
Punctual pick up at our hotel followed by a drive in heavy traffic towards Naples. The guide was interesting and knowledgable, we had time to look around the souvenir stalls while she collected our tickets. Pompeii was an incredible experience although very busy with other visitors we had a real feeling of what life was like at the time. A value lunch at a nearby restaurant gave us time meet others on the trip then on to Vesuvius where a gradual sloping walk of about 300m took us to the top where we could look down into the volcano or take in the amazing views over the Bay of Naples. All in all a fantastic day out.
A fantastic day. Pick up on time from the hotel. The guidè was extremeky knowledgable and took us to the key places in Pompeii... you couod spend all day there and miss things. Vesuvius was stunning.. a bit of a hike to the top but well worth it.
Fabrezio was our tour guide and he was amazing! He was very knowledgeable, energetic and entertaining. The day moved smoothly from our trip to Vesuvius, lunch and then Pompeii. I do think that people should be aware that it is quite physically demanding to walk to the top of Vesuvius and back in the allotted time. One couple took longer than they should have which delayed the tour for 26 minutes past our departure time. Not Fabrezio's fault. Pompeii is fascinating and would not have been as interesting without Fabrezio's insightful stories. All in all a great and memorable day.
We were picked up from our hotel exactly on time and were introduced to both the driver and our guide Fabrinzio ... what a great guide he was ... very enthusiastic and clear about how the day would run ... he suggested we visit Versuveus first in the hope that we would miss the crowds in Pompeii and he was spot on. It was a pleasant climb up to the top of Versuveus and the views were magnificent... not a cloud in the sky and you could see for miles. We moved on to Pompeii and had lunch in the Tiberius restaurant ... a drink... choice of main dish from salad to pizza or lasagne all huge portions and then a dessert to follow all for 14. Excellent. Pompeii was very interesting and as the crowds had all left it was a steady well informed visit with time to take plenty of photos. Fabrinizio or Fab as he likes to be called was a real delight to have as a guide his enthusiasm for the history surrounding Pompeii kept everyone enthralled and entertained. We would certainly recommend this visit especially if your guide is as good as Fabrinzio.
Great experience. I Highly recommend it but wear anti slip shoes for both the hike and Pompeii.
This trip is really worth doing. Guide Pepe was amazing and really knowledgeable and would advise doing Pompei with a guide is a must. The walk up Vesuvius is worth the effort as the views are amazing.
My wife and I counted ourselves extremely lucky in doing this excursion, because due to Forest Fires, Mt Vesuvius had been closed off for any access up until our trip. We were contacted by Mara to advise that the trip may be cancelled as a result of the forest fire the day before, which was heartbreaking but her communication was excellent and she called back within an hour to say that she had a go ahead to proceed.
The driver Vincenzo and Mara together were a great team, arrived at our hotel bang on time, and were extremely welcoming.
The information Mara provided during the coach journey was priceless and very engaging. She had an excellent sense of humour and everyone warmed to her. The information provided was stored instead of other tours where you become disengaged and bored.
Pompeii was amazing. We went at an excellent pace, allowing for photos, and seeing everything that was important. Mara had an extensive knowledge and painted a perfect picture of the ancient times of how the people of Pompeii lived, We had visited Herculaneum a few days prior so seeing Pompeii helped understand things more and fill in any gaps.
We went to a restaurant for lunch between both sites and had 2 slices of pizza and a bottle of water included, which was a great touch and lovely.
Mt Vesuvius was something everyone should see and do if in the Bay of Naples. The views were out of this world, the journey up to the volcano was great, and walking the extra 281 metres is a great bit of exercise and takes about 25 minutes.
I could not fault this excursion 1 bit, it was worth every star I have given!
Had a great visit to Pompeii from Sorrento. The tour guide was very good, full of interesting information. From the main square it was amazing to see Mount Vesuvius still towering over the city. We visited in early August, it was very hot, make sure you buy water before entering the gates as there is no chance once inside. You can use your own headphones to connect to the radio where you can hear the guide very well, although of course earphones are provided. On return to Sorrento the roads were very busy, but the driver kindly took the coastal route so that we could enjoy the lovely scenery. I originally booked a full day tour, including Mount Vesuvius, unfortunately due to recent wild fires we could not enter the park, this was advised the day before our scheduled visit. Graziana at Goldentours International was very helpful in rescheduling my tour to the Pompeii half day tour and the money was refunded promptly.
Great day in Pompeii and to Mont Vesuvius. In the morning we went to Pompeii to see the old city that once had been burried under ashes. The guide explained us how it has been discovered and how archeologists work. He guided us in the city, telling us everything about how it was back then. It was perfect to see and understand Pompeii, even if it was a bit crowdy we went in July. In the afternoon, the bus took us to Mt Vesuvius where we could take a 20 min. walk to get to the summit to see the volcano crater and the bay of Naples. I would recommend it for the sight, but only for those in good shape. I really loved my day!!
Very informative tour on the discovery and history of Pompeii. The tour ended up being smaller than what was anticipated due to six individuals never showed. It was well organized with an hour break between Pompeii and Vesuvius to enjoy lunch on our own.
We loved this tour! It was super convenient having them arrange for pick up at our hotel. The drive to Pompeii and Mt. Vesuvius was short and comfortable, although on the way home the bus driver seemed to have some trouble figuring out how to turn on the a/c.
Our tour guide, Anna, was fantastic! You can tell she is very passionate about her country and the history at these two sites. She was very informative and friendly. She made sure to help us every step of the way and made getting in and out of the sites a breeze. She recommended and brought us to a reasonably priced restaurant for lunch, which was great, because many places are expensive tourist traps when you have to purchase food/drinks at sites like these.
If you are going to be in Sorrento, a day trip to Pompeii and Vesuvius is a must. This tour was awesome.
Extremely interesting tour of Pompeii and very well explained by our guide.
Very good tour, well organised, punctual pick up and friendly tour guide and driver. Lucca the tour guide was good humoured and very passionate about Pompeii, his commentary and description of the ancient city was very informative. The tour gave a good summary of the history of the city and the lives of the people living in Pompeii at the time. This tour is a very good way to see Pompeii and also reach the summit of Mt Versuvius.
We enjoyed the tour very much and our guide Nello was very informative and funny at the same time! Very highly recommended.
very good tour good guide very informative on the surrounding area and at pompeii and vesuvius would recommend the tour
I recommend taking a tour to go to Pompeii and Mt Vesuvius.
I enjoyed my day over there and the guide was awesome.
Excellent tour! The guide was italian and very fun. She made the tour interesting, walking us through the ruins of Pompeii without a guide, it would be a really difficult task not to get lost!. After that, we stopped for lunch and then headed to Mount Vesuvius, where we climbed the initially very steep 800 meters to the crater which I found a bit... small or unimpressive, to tell you the truth. The tour was absolutely worth doing great half-day activity!
