What To Expect
Start your day trip with a pickup from central Sorrento or your hotel; the local operator will confirm before you travel. Once on the coach, you’ll travel inland, away from the coast to the ancient city of Pompeii. Famous as the city that lay buried beneath mounds of volcanic ash after the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius, Pompeii today is one of Italy’s largest — and best preserved — complex of ruins. See its highlights on a 2-hour tour with a guide, and wander through the historic streets to see old Roman baths, villas, and forums. Leave Pompeii after your tour, and head onward to Mt. Vesuvius, traveling to an altitude of 3, 280 feet (1,000 meters). How you spend your time at the crater is up to you; a local mountain guide is on hand, should you want a guided tour at your own expense. Later, you’ll return to Sorrento with your group, and finish with a drop-off at the start point.

This tour was great! We got picked up and dropped of at hotel which was fantastic. It was a long trip but awesome. The guide and driver were very nice!
My group accidentally had our timing of pick-up wrong and missed our team, but this team allowed us to switch our excursion to the following day. We were super grateful for the team allowing us to shift our excursion to the next day and be a part of the experience. Overall it was a tremendous experience getting to walk around Pompeii with a guided tour. We then went to a restaurant for lunch where two slices of pizza and water was included. After lunch we went to the Vesuvius and had around 1.5 hours to hike up, take pictures and hike back down to the lot where our bus was parked. It took about 20-25 mins to hike up the Vesuvius but it's totally worth it because the views are unbelievable. Overall I highly recommend this tour and is a great experience.
One thing to be aware is that the price you pay the tickets to enter Pompeii and the Vesuvius are not included. It cost 15 Euro per person to enter Pompeii and 10 Euro per person to hike the Vesuvius and you will have to pay in cash.
I recommend Pompeii, however I would not recommend our tour guide. Her English left us confused at times but more distracting was the 7 phone calls she took on mic the first half of the tour, on mi The meal was small; 2 1/4-slices of pizza so we purchased more. The hike up Vesuvius is quite the hike
My husband and I loved this tour. The tour guide was great and the hike was amazing. I have to warn those who book this, however, because the people who handle the booking can't speak English very well. The pick up point wasn't communicated accurately, and when we called to get directions, they were unhelpful. The woman who I spoke to was rude. I had to tell her 'Madam, you need to calm down' more than once as she was emotional and she yelled at me in Italian. My husband and I ended up going to Pompeii to meet the tour, but that too, after I suggested such a thing, they showed no interest in helping me. Ultimately, it was the tour guide who was friendly and helpful. I think the tour is good but the people who organised this tour was unprofessional and should not be working in the tourist industry.
To the tourist company organising this tour I would say the following:
1. Yelling at your customers is never okay.
2. When we called to confirm directions of where we were, we were hung up on twice after a hurried 'Yes, yes,' even before I even finished asking my question. - Again, this is not okay.
3. When we suggested we meet you at Pompeii, the last thing you should be doing is discouraging us from taking the tour.
4. Being rude is not good. The only reason this is not a 1 star review is because of the exceptional work of your tour guide.
5. Please train your employees in the art of patience, helpfulness and friendliness as they sorely lack it.
I will not recommend this tour as the tourist company has the worst customer service I have ever come across.
This tour was well worth the money and we learned so much from it!
Our tour guide was a bit grumpy from the start as the booking team didn't plan well for hotel pickup times, so they were 30 min late. But once we were on our way, we had a really good time. Seeing Vesuvius up close was amazing and a good workout and having a tour guide for the enormous site at Pompeii was very helpful.
This was an excellent and very professional tour.
Lucia was lovely and extremely knowledgeable. A lovely surprise was that a light lunch and drink was included. Unfortunately the Vesuvius bit was cancelled due to the wild fires at the base but that could not be helped and clearly was not the operators fault.
For the money this was really very good value.
A great trip! Our guide was friendly, funny and very informative. Pompeii is really interesting with lots to see. 2 slices of pizza and a bottle of water is included which was a surprise and very welcome. Vesuvius is amazing. The weather was hot but cloudy which was probably a good thing as the climb is not easy! I used a walking cane from a man at the bottom and you just give him a tip when you give it back. Don't give up because when you get to the top it is well worth it. Highly recommended.
