After being on my to do list for many years, I finally had the chance to take this great day trip. The Pompeii sight is huge and I like to see everything, but once there realized that walking around over the course of the guided tour, one does not HAVE to see everything to appreciate what it was and is today. Especially in you do some research before the visit, you can see and experience much in the allotted time. It is truly amazing and well worth any kind of a visit. Herculaneum is small and compact and easy to grasp in a short time, and just as amazing as Pompeii. The present city is virtually on top of the excavation, which lends an extra dimension of understanding of the history and evolution of the ancient city. The guide was terrific, with information, stories, told in an entertaining way. If someone has more time, I would recommend visiting Pompeii for a whole day, but if time for this is short as in my case, seeing the two sites in one day is a great way to go. Lunch is pretty good, a convenience more than a great meal but worth while.

Michel our guide was obviously a professor of archeology and history. He was also so very professional and stood out among all other guides we were in proximity of. He had a real and spontaneous love for these sites. His attitude and personality made the tour. We would never had gained the knowledge and experience from any other guide. The connection to the small group tour was easy, the driver was very good my husband suffers motion sickness easily and the food for lunch was great at a wonderful location. This was by far the best tour in our three weeks in Italy....thanks to the guide.

The tour and the guide were great. We learned things that we never knew and were wowed by the place and the descriptions. We felt that the tour was a high point of our trip to Sorrento. My husband was so keen to go on this trip and his expectations were totally met!

This was a great way to see both the historic sights in one day, in comfort and with a knowledgeable guide to show you the most interesting and important parts. As both the sites are rather large you could easily get lost in the labyrinth of stone walls and houses and miss significant areas but our tour guide kept us all together whilst showing us the sights. The lunch was excellent and they catered for Gluten Free without notice. Remember that the entrance to both sites are not included so have cash to pay for these on the day.

Rafealla is a gem! Very knowledgable and kept the group together throughout the day through the convoluted ruins. She is 1 part comedian, 1 part drill master and 10 parts teacher...amazing tour!

Vitale was our guide. The group was small, and Vitale was very accommodating and informative. There is a lot to see at the two sites. Most of the participants liked the Herculaneum portion of the tour best because there were no crowds as there were in Pompeii, while the sights were better preserved, with a lot more detail visible on the walls, floors, and ceilings than in Pompeii, which was more of a ruin than a place where you can easily visualize the daily activities of the people who lived there. Our weather was great in early September, not too hot.

This was an amazing tour, and Desiree was a terrific tour guide. She was so knowledgeable and imparted great anecdotes throughout the tours of Pompeii and Herculaneum. Both sites were just stunning and mind-blowing - their history is incredible. It was VERY HOT, but Desiree did a great job of always trying to find some small amount of shade for us to stand in as she imparted facts about what we were seeing. Our lunch was in a nice restaurant right next to Pompeii's entrance. Lunch was quite good and plentiful - a salad of grilled vegetables, pasta and ice cream. It was a welcome respite from the heat and walking to be able to sit in a/c comfort! I can't say enough about our enjoyment of this tour!

This was a fabulous day and incredibly enjoyable if you are sensible and well prepared. Take heed of the warnings. It is HOT HOT HOT in the summer months and the terrain is difficult at times. You need sun lotion, bottles of water and a hat or even better, a parasol. You also need trainers as the roads are seriously uneven and it is often feel like you and jumping from stepping stones to rock to get across the uneven floor. Having said that is it everything I imagined it to be and more. There is so much to see 4 square mile of it!! although the tour guide only shows you a small part of it but some of the better pieces on show. Herculaneum was just as interesting but in a totally different way and I wont spoil anything by telling you what you see but a camera in both places is essential. I took over 120 photos and could have taken more. The lunchtime meal was simple but lovely and a welcome break between the two locations. The only irritation was an American guy who kept asking if what he was seeing was real. the guide's calm response of its a ruin sir of course it is real was the quote of the trip! A tiring but thoroughly enjoyable day

OUSTANDING EXPERIENCE! A highly anticipated tour and we were not disappointed. The small goupr was terrific- we saw rooms and houses that those large groups dont get to. Our guide had so much knowledge and really gave us the feel of stepping back in time and experienceing what life was like in Pompeii and Herculaneum. If you are thinking of just doing Pompeii: DONT! Herculaneum was so interesting- even better if possible than Pompeii. We can cross this off our bucket list- we are so very glad that we did this.

Herculaneum was the highlight! Really pleased we saw this and Pompei, the tour made the experience convenient and informative. The guide Laura was excellent: informative, great stories and excellent humour. Explained life of the Ancient Romans, effects of the eruption and work of archeologists.

This was an awesome tour. It was very structured but our guide, Lia, did a fantastic job of keeping us moving and providing us with a lot of history and interesting facts about Pompeii and Herculaneum. We like Herculaneum a lot since it had fewer people but so much to look at. Just the fact that most of it is still buried under rock and modern day apartments is hard to imagine. Pompeii was also fantastic. I would highly recommend a tour since you may miss out on some of the details if you try to walk and read the book they give you. Very fun and informative tour.

Both Pompeii and Herculaneum as well worth visiting and this tour was excellent. We had a very good guide who provided just the right amount of history, culture and artistic background, while keeping an un-rushed pace to the tour

Excellent, tour guide Roberta obviously loves her city, her history and her job. A busy day- lots of walking, no shade so take a hat or sunshade. Herculaneum seemed more personal as it was less busy and a much smaller site. However it was amazing to see Pompeii which I had long known of and appreciate the devastion to both sites as a result of that eruption so long ago.
