What You Can Expect

Sorrento Small-Group Food Walking Tour

Visit a deli market for real buffalo mozzarella

Meet your guide and fellow foodies at Piazza Tasso Sorrento, the seaside town's main square, to begin this tasty 3-hour food tour. Let your local food-loving guide lead you through the streets of central Sorrento, explaining the food culture of the city and regaling you with interesting historical anecdotes.

During the tour, stop at eight different spots: from eateries to delis, markets to dessert destinations. With Mount Vesuvius as the backdrop, stroll the streets of this charming city taking in the colorful sun-kissed houses and palaces.

The first stop is to sample the shell-shaped filled pastry called sfogliatelle at a pastricceria. But don't fill up too fast because next up is a hot pressed sandwich known as a panini and then pali'e riso, a fried rice ball and a Neapolitan version of arancini.

Walk on to a family-run deli to munch on some creamy buffalo mozzarella and some cured meat, known as salumi. Wash it down with a few sips of locally brewed craft beer. Not satiated yet? Good, because the next stop is to sample some local pasta delights and wine at a trattoria. Finish off the meal with a glass of limoncello.

Finish your feast with a stop at a gourmet gelato shop for a lick or two of Italian ice cream before walking off your meal back to Piazza Tasso Sorrento.

Tamara and Michela were a highlight of our 10 day trip to the Sorrento/Naples area. It all started with the Sorrento Food Walking Tour, which we recommend taking as soon as you are in town. The tour really gets you moving around town and experiencing the sights, sounds and tastes. Lunch al fresco on a back pedestrian walkway was unreal. We subsequently inquired about the wine tasting Tamara offered and she arranged a special event as we were leaving town before the next one. Completely surprised to meet her husband Michela and experience the sublime Il Buco Michelin star rated restaurant for the tasting. Of course we made reservations for their tasting menu lunch later that week. Throughout the week we made return visits to all the places Tamara introduced us to, bumping into her on many occasions. Her bright smile and Ciao making us feel like locals. This was much much more then a tour and became the starting point of a storybook experience for us. Ciao Tamara, Ciao Michela!

This tour was paced very well, with so many delicious food tastings! It was nice to have some history thrown in too and get a better feel for the layout of the beautiful town of Sorrento. I also certainly appreciated our English-speaking guide Tamara who was fabulous.

We loved it! We learned a lot about Italian and local foods as well as enjoyed eating them. Our guide, Tamara was super! She also helped us a with an emergency dental situation. So thank you very much! It is a great way to explore Sorrento instead of just wandering through all the crowds. Also, we enjoyed getting to know our fellow travelers.

Excellent tour and such good value for money. Lunch was not required afterwards. The guide was very knowledgeable and the small group of 10 made is so much more personal.
