What You Can Expect

Small-Group Plitvice Lakes Day Trip from Split

Enjoy a day out of the city and discover the magnificent Plitvice Lakes

Get picked up at your hotel in Split to begin this exciting day trip tour out of the city. Ride in an air-conditioned shuttle for 2.5 hours as you learn about the history and bio-diversity of the national park, which is the biggest and oldest in the country.

After arriving in Plitvice Lakes National Park, hop off the shuttle and begin exploring the park, marveling at the diversity of trees there: from pine to spruce to beech trees and the verdant ferns that blanket the forest floor. The trail can be steep at times, going down as much as 300 steps, but it’s well worth it, as you’ll find out.

The hiking route covers a distance of approximately 1.5 miles (2.4 km), so be sure to bring comfortable shoes. Stroll along the trails, taking in the colorful wild floors that flank your way, and pass over wooden bridges that afford incredible extremely picture-worthy photos of the turquoise lakes, streams and waterfalls.

Hop on an electric boat to get an even better look at the lakes, as you cruise along the clear water, the color of which feels like it’s straight out of a dreamed-up fantasy land.

After the ride, keep going on foot as you marvel at the views of the higher lakes. Later opt either for a bus or a train ride for the final panoramic view of the the lakes and surrounding forests. Then take 90 minutes of free time to do some more exploring or grab lunch (at own expense) at a restaurant, before returning to the shuttle for the ride back to Split where you’ll be dropped off at your hotel.

Love Plitvice Lakes. They were absolutely stunning and the day was well-organised. Lots of walking and being peak season, it was very, very crowded.

The tour was very well organised and everything was as per description. The tour guide Damir made huge efforts to ensure that we had enough background and history of all that we saw along the way. Plitvice Lakes National park is magic!!

An absolute must do tour. Even though the day was long and raining, 11 hours, it was worth it. Most wonderful scenery. Take a warm jacket. Mini van was comfortable and tour guide was excellent.

By far, one of the best sights in Croatia. Haris, our guide, managed to avoid the crowds, took us to some great places to take good pictures and had a vast knowledge of the place and country. Also very funny, kind and very much in love with Split! :

This tour was INCREDIBLE and one of the highlights of our trip! We went during mid August, which is peak season, so the small group size was perfect amidst all the crowds that were there. Our tour guide also did a great job at navigating the group along the trails so that we avoided many of the crowded traffic jams during the tour. Overall, I highly recommend booking this tour if you are planning to visit Plitvice Lakes and you would be fool not to.

Fabulous tour. So well organised and there were only six of us so we weren't held back by a big group. Rachaela was so friendly, informed and organised. I'd highly recommend this to tour to anyone. The park is amazing and well worth a visit.
