What You Can Expect

Split Wine Tasting and Evening Walking Tour

Walk around Split in the evening and learn about Croatian wines from your guide

Meet up with your guide in central Split, at the Gallery of Fine Arts, to begin this exciting early-evening tour that involves strolling, history and food and wine. Start with a leisurely walk along the Riva, the main seaside promenade in Split, popular with both locals and tourists, taking in the views over the water to the nearby islands.
After walking the entirety of the promenade, perambulate up Marjan Hill, a nature preserve where locals take refuge from the fast pace of Croatia's second most populous city. Learn about the history of the places you're passing from your expert local guide, as you stroll up the hill on a winding trail that goes through a verdant landscape. Stop for a minute to take in the great views of the city and the sea just beyond it.
Once you reach the hill's acme, begin the stroll down hill to the neighborhood of Veli Varoš, a very local part of town and also an aesthetically pleasing swath of historical buildings. Pop into a favorite local wine bar to begin the second half of the tour: sampling some locally made wine and cheese. Sitting among locals, try the wine and discuss the chief characteristics of Dalmatian vino.
After your wine tasting finishes, leave the bar and work off your night’s food and wine with a final stroll back to the start point.
