St Kitts Shore Excursion: ATV Adventure

St Kitts Shore Excursion: ATV Adventure

Spend a few action-packed hours touring the rugged countryside of Saint Kitts by ATV (all-terrain vehicle), enjoying magnificent scenery and a stop at a historic sugar plantation and textile center, during this 3-hour ride. This shore excursion is the perfect blend of adventure, culture and natural scenery during your short stopover on this beautiful Caribbean island.
Begin the trip with a pickup at the cruise ship port in Saint Kitts, continuing to a local ATV shop where you’ll rendezvous with your guide for the day. Get kitted out with a helmet and goggles and listen to a safety briefing and instructions to operate your off-road vehicle. Then hit the throttle and head into the Saint Kitts countryside.
Trace the path of your guide as you start your trip, following a trail that’s been tailored to the experience level of your group. You’ll move more quickly or slowly based on how well the participants are handling the terrain. Riders of all levels of experience are welcome. Kick up a little mud as you wind your way along the rolling trails, zooming along lush sugar cane fields.
As you drive you’ll also pass a historic sugar plantation, at which point your guide will share insights about the history of the island’s sugar industry. Continue riding until you reach the Wingfield Estate, located in the foothills of the island’s central mountain range. This beautiful estate is set among a collection of beautiful gardens which host a wealth of plant life.
Spend some time exploring the estate’s 17th century relics, which were used in the manufacture of refined sugar and rum. Interestingly, the estate is considered the first English settlement in the Caribbean and was owned by an ancestor of US President Thomas Jefferson.
Then motor your way to your last stop at Caribelle Batik, located just next door to Wingfield Estate. This textile center features the work of local artisans, who produce a special fabric called batik (a specially-dyed fabric in colorful patterns). Watch the artisans at work and feel free to purchase a few items.
Following your stop at Caribelle Batik, you’ll make your way back to the ATV shop, where you’ll receive a ride back to the port.

Elvis was waiting for us as soon as we got off our ship. A short drive to pick up 2 others at another ship then a 15 minute drive to the ATV compound. Our guide was Elvin. REQUEST ELVIN. Wonderful young man. Neither my wife age 60 nor myself have ever been on an ATV. My wife took to it immediately. They have a small track that they have you go on before the tour to make sure you are comfortable with the ATV. The ATV is automatic with both a hand brake and handlebar brakes. You accelerate with a button on the handlebar. Elvin kept a sharp eye on us to make sure we were all OK throughout the tour. The trail is a dirt trail through the mountain. The views of the water, volcano and mountain was breathtaking. Elvin stopped to let us take pictures when we asked. We stopped at an abandoned sugar mill where Elvin gave us a tour of the structure and local flora. It was 2 hours on the ATV at places you needed an ATV to get to. Don't let the fact that you have never been on an ATV stop you. My wife age 60, had a smile that was on her face for the entire 2 hours. IT WAS A BALL. Afterwards, Elvis took the other couple to a beach wish we knew about that and took us back to the ship. A great time was had by all. Go Go Go. Worth every cent.

Great experience. Our tour guide, Manners, is a very nice young man that wanted us to have a good time.
He was serious about his responsibilities but also was fun to be around.

This was a great excursion. There were only 6 adults in our group, only 1 with experience riding ATVs. They let you practice for a few minutes and then we were off. We spent over an hour riding with a couple of stops on the way. The sugar canes and the views were beautiful and our guides were great. We got to take lots of pictures and they let us drive pretty fast. They let the group dictate the speed. I would highly recommend this excursion and company.

Ivan Sr. was our guide and the excursion was awesome. We all knew how to drive ATV's so we were able to go fast and we did the tour early so it was just the 5 of us in the group. Ivan new everything about the island and was so much fun. You do get dirty but well worth it. If you have wrap around sunglasses or google it would be great because you get a lot of dirt in your eyes. Highly recommend this tour.

This was well worth our money. They picked us up at the cruise port, gave a short tutorial, and off we went! And we got much more riding time then we expected. You choose how dirty you want to get. Hit the mud hole or drive around. Manners was a great guide. We stopped for sightseeing, pictures, and informational pointers. We took advantage of the drinks that were available for purchase after the ride. They also provided transportation back to the ship. Overall an amazing experience. Would definitely do it again.

Mom Dad and 17 yr old did this excursion on our St. Kitts port stop. Unbelievable way to see some of the beautiful island. Way better than more shopping! At first we all were a little timid having zero ATV experience. By the end we were all flooring it and confidently zooming up and down the terrain. The views were amazing. DEFINITELY wear long pants, goggles/sunglasses and a bandanna. We were gloriously filthy at the end. The company provides water, soap and paper towels. I had forgot about the bandanna so I improvised with a ship napkin. I should've booked the add on beach time to the tour, maybe next time! 17 yr old said it was one of the best excursions ever Which is high praise indeed. Driver was right there to pick us up. Only feedback was our ATV guide was a super quiet dude not a lot of conversation with him before or after the ride. All in all 5 star excursion!
