Our 3 day tour to St. Petersburg was such a wonderful experience and surprise. We have been fortunate to travel to many places but this tour was one of the best ever. It had it all! A perfect balance of history, culture, food, shopping, fun, and even a canal boat ride .We had 12 people on our tour. It was the perfect size and we never experienced delays. Our guide was by far the best guide we have ever had. She was incredibly knowledgeable with a great since of humor.
TJ Travel are an excellent company.
Had no problems with booking, confirmation through emails, and with the 3 day tour itself.
Our guide was Zina a St Petersburg local, and passionate about her city, and our driver was Alexander who was pleasant but spoke little English. They met us promptly at the dock where our cruise ship came in.
Zina written as Dina was excellent. Knowledgeable about the city's rich history, the art within the Hermitage and other beautiful landmarks, and enthralled us with her personal take on growing up in the USSR and the changes Gorbachev and Perestroika brought to her in the early 90's. She was an excellent ambassador for her city, and one of the most engaging guides we have ever had.
Our 3 day tour from our cruise ship had a good size of 12 people , fitting comfortably in an air cond van that would fit 20. It even had wifi ! After 3 days, we all got to know each other well, and had a great 3 days together. Whilst the traffic and ongoing roadworks in St Petersburg made travel between sites a bit slow, Zina rearranged the itinerary on each day to suit the traffic, but ensuring we went to every site we were meant to, and some extra.
The crowds at the Peterhof Palace especially bad, and Catherine's Palace were long but we got lucky at the Hermitage as Zina helped us dart through the crowds to the more popular exhibits whilst they were unoccupied, and then travelled back through the museum to less popular exhibits whilst they were empty.
What you see of the tourist sites in St Petersburg is truly beautiful. A 3 day tour is just the perfect amount of time to get a good taste of the city, without feeling rushed.
St Isaacs Cathedral esp the interior, the Faberge museum surprisingly worth a quick visit and the Church of the Spilled Blood all worth a look. When we were there, Yusupov's Palace where Rasputin died and the Church of the Spilled Blood were under scaffolding.
We even had time for a canal tour ok, a visit to the Metro not as grand as I imagined it to be, though Moscow's metro would likely be better and even the Jewish Synagogue.
I would have no reservation in recommending this company, and esp Zina as a guide.
Thank you Zina and Alexander.
Firstly this tour was everything we hoped for. Paperwork sent to us took us easily through immigration. Driver and guide were waiting at the end of the gangway and tour content was as advertised plus more.
Secondly, our guide, Irina, was superb with excellent English and very clear diction. We spent three days in a group of 12, which was a comfortable number and easily managed by Irina. After many years of tours we rate Irina as the ultimate guide.
If booking 3 days consider your level of mobility for the amount of stairs and walking required and crowd numbers at the Palaces and museums. Our group were all fit and we were blessed with lovely weather. Despite tiredness by the end of the tour every part of it was worth seeing and doing. Go do a JL tour of St Petersburg, hopefully with the delightful and funny Irina.
Fantastic tour and highly recommend taking this tour if you have 3 days in St Petersburg. Svetlana, our guide, exceeded our expectations with her breadth of knowledge, her sense of humour and her ability to manoeuvre us to the front of the long queues to the major attractions. We were a small group of 4 people and Svetlana, and our driver George, managed to cover all the places we wanted to visit and accommodated the tour to our interests. Thanks Svetlana and George.
Great. Only 11 in our group and our Guide was especially good. We learnt so much about Russian history. Only down side was first morning getting held up a bit on the ship. Azamara lets those with their tours off first. So anything that is happening on the first morning needs to be flexible. The next two days it was easy getting off and through passport checks. Recommend booking independent tours as you do experience smaller groups at a much more reasonable cost. Glad we did it. Great experience thoroughly enjoyed St Petersburg.
The local contractor was great - from start to finish. We were met as we cleared immigration and treated professionally for the the three days of the tour. The guides took care to further customize and re-arrange the stops as we wished. The Mercedes vans were perfect for comfort - there four of us enjoyed the room. We especially appreciate the premium entry arrangements - we never stood in line for anything! We will be booking more tours.

We loved this tour! Our guide from TJ Travel, Konstantin, was great! Patient, funny, and so knowledgeable! ! We would recommend this 3 day tour to everyone! !
A fabulous experience. St Petersburg was everything and more than we expected. Our 3 day trip, was perfect, the tour guide Nina and the bus driver were exceptional in their knowledge of the places we visited. Everything was timed perfectly. We had pre set Russian dinners each day which were waiting for us when we arrived, so no time wasted from out tour time. The size of the trip 12 people was just right, and the ear pieces that NIna spoke to us through enabled all the group to hear all the information relating to the subject, without everyone straining to hear.
Well worth every penny, would recommend this 3 day trip to anyone thinking of coming to St Peterberg!
This was an outstanding three day tour. The van rides were smooth and relaxing plus the driver Edward was friendly and professional. Marina, our guide, was perhaps the best and most knowledgeable we have ever had in all our years of touring. She also knew generally the best time of the day to avoid the crowds and planned the various visits accordingly. The local meals were both good and interesting plus we had a couple of non pressured shopping stops. The sites were all well covered, informative and somewhat spectacular. Both boat trips were neat. The Hermitage tour was great but a bit rushed by the museum staff. This tour was a bargain!!
This 3 day tour guided by Dina and driver Constantine was amazing. I would highly recommend it. We werae go, go, go for 3 days and would only recommend it to those with medium walking abaility. The information Dina provided was outstanding. Our driver Constantine was a wonder finding drop off and pick up spots.
There is so much to see that it is over whelming and breathing taking especially Catherines Palace
