What You Can Expect

2-Day St. Petersburg Shore Excursion

The magnificent Catherine Palace in Pushkin

Day 1: St Petersburg
After pickup from your port, begin with a St Petersburg tour. See the major sites and historical attractions with a mini-walking tour around the city center, and enjoy plenty of photo opportunities.

Then visit St Isaac’s Cathedral with its colossal dome and peruse the local food market. Afterward, soak up some free time with lunch in one of the nearby cafes.

Then see the Hermitage Museum, one of the world's most prestigious museums, with over three million works of art. After a tour of the spectacular state and private rooms, you will be given free time to choose which areas you would like to explore.

Afterward, hop aboard your canal cruise. St. Petersburg is also called 'the Venice of the North,' and the tour includes a cruise along the River Neva and through picturesque canals.

Finish the day with a visit to the Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood. This church is covered in rich, colorful decoration both inside and out. Afterward, return to your ship.

Day 2: St Petersburg
After pickup from the port, start the day with a city tour to the south. See the major sites of the palace estates including statues, monuments, rivers and canals, beautiful bridges, cathedrals and palaces, memorial squares and parks. Then see Catherine Palace, admiring the stunning, 1000-foot facade. Your tour will visit all the major halls and private rooms, and a particular highlight is the Amber Room.

Enjoy free time in the delightful, small town of Pushkin. Dine (own expense), explore, take photos, shop or stroll its manicured parks. Then drive to Peterhof to visit Peterhof Fountain Park, built to rival Versailles in France. Peter the Great designed the 300-acre landscape, and you'll stroll through the lower park.

Return to St Petersburg and take the Metro – which is an attraction in itself – to find out why it is known as the magnificent 'palace of the people.'  Afterward, return to your ship.

Our guide Maria was fantastic, very knowledgeable, thorough and friendly. She took us to many places of interest and gave us detailed commentary. We were in a small group so it was easy to get around. The only negative about the tour was that we did not have internet as was said on the tour details .

I would completely recommend this tour for anyone visiting St Petersburg. Marsha was such a knowledgeable guide - the trip was fantastic - so informative and exactly what we hoped for. We arrived from a cruise with MSC and a member of the viator team were waiting for us - all went very smoothly

It was a long two days, but it was worth it. We learned a lot about the history of St. Petersburg and Russia and saw many beautiful historical places. It was not the Russia I expected. It was very clean and well kept up in St. Petersburg.

The thing that made our trip was our wonderful tour guide, Anna. She explained all about Russian history, cultural sites, and interesting places along the way. She made our experience a great one instead of just a good one. We loved the Church of the Spilled Blood and St. Isaac's Cathedral. Iconic, to say the least. Catherine's Palace and Peter Hoff Gardens were beyond imagination. We couldn't have had a better time!
