This one day highlights shore excursion/tour of St. Petersburgh was exceptional! Our tour guide, Vadim, waited patiently for us to get out of the ship in spite of the more than 2 hours wait, as it took a while for Russian immigration to process a big ship of more than 4000 passengers. Our tour was personalized, with only 3 passengers in the comfortable air conditioned van. We enjoyed Vadim's knowledge, passion and candor, quite charming as well. He went out of his way to accompany us to a little souvenir shopping as per our request after the assigned tour. The lunch provided for was adequate and tasty, with good and healthy snacks of yougurt, fruit, juice and water. Had no issues with this company, Ksenia, the customer representative was awesome, she provided detailed information to all my queries. Edward, our driver was very professional and drove us safely around the city. Wifi was even available! I highly recommend this tour! Thanks, Vadim and Ksenia!
Maria was a fun, knowledgeable passionate representative of St. Petersburg. She made our time in Russia more memorable! Our excursion upon comparison with one offered on the ship was far more valuable! We had a small group, perfect transportation and an adaptable schedule. We were able to fit in a quick shop and Vodka tasting to top off the day. The only thing that wasn't top notch was our bagged lunch. But, I have to say it was something I will always remember
This really was an amazing tour and out guide Maria , yes it was a bit time consuming getting through immigration , and you are held on the ship until there tours have passed through , but be at the front to get off ship , when you get off look where smallest que is and move quickly , we had to wait in line about half an hour that's quick as half the ship had booked there own tours ! Once out people there to tell us where our guide was and we where swiftly off in our mini bus , didn't really want to do Hermitage but differcult to get a tour without it , but wow so glad we did , building amazing , Maria bought pictures to life with there quirky story's , objects beautiful , wore head sets so could clearly hear everything , plus instructions when we got lost , how to find the group again , in before main tourists arrived big bonus ! Peterhof , stunning gardens , fountains ,Kat ride back to St Petersburg nice , quick trip down a metro station , good fun , Don't buy anything at the official places , wait until the shop they take you to at end of tour , very good prices and they sell everything ! And free Vodka ! Which is never had but the fruit flavour one I loved and I don't drink . O pack lunch chicken salad sandwich , yogurt , apple , cake , and water and fruit juice very good . Wear your trainers as a lot of walking but a decent pace not too fast or slow , and plenty of toilet stops . We loved Maria and out coach driver xx and St Petersburg , would love to go back and spend longer at Hermitage and Peterhof. Excellent company and far cheaper than the ship . Very good communication via email once booked , visas sorted easily by company .
Amazing tour! Nina our guide was knowledgeable, friendly, gave us tons of information about the history of St Petersburg. She also was very attentive and answered all our questions. Couldn’t have asked for anyone better. I give this tour a 10
This was a tour selected because we wanted to get as much exposure to St Petersburg as one could get in a one-day cruise stop. It was a great choice. After clearing Russian immigration we were met right away by our guide Nina and we joined our group of about 10 and got going. This tour included stops at the Hermitage, Palace of Catherine the Great, and a hydrofoil trip to Peterhof. A full day and a lot of things to take in. Nina was an excellent guide. Friendly, highly knowledgeable and very capable of managing the logistics getting in and out of the venues. It included a box lunch as well. We were very glad we chose this tour and had a great time even though it rained all day.
Do not believe what they say on the cruise ships about only their tours are authorised. We had no problems getting off the ship, through immigration and meeting our lovely guide Anna. As long as you have your tour ticket printed with your name and passport details correct it will be fine. Also this tour was more comprehensive and cheaper than offered by our cruise ship.
We were collected in a lovely mini-bus. Only six in our group so a really personal tour. The driver was excellent. The Guide Anna was wonderful, very knowledgeable and gave just the right amount of detail, history and an insight into modern life in St Petersburg. She was very well organised, having all the tickets ready and being flexible with our timing to suit our circumstances. She was also very thoughtful about toilet stops etc!
Our first stop was the a main square beside the Cathedral and palace, from there we went into the Underground to see the amazing interiors, artwork and efficient network system. It gave us an insight into the daily commute for residents.
Then to the Hermitage Museum- arriving in the morning before the main crowds was a huge bonus! This place was even more stunning than expected and Anna again gave the right balance of history, the decor and the artworks on show.
From there to the stunning Spilt Blood Church for quick entry and plenty of time to admire the wonderful mosaics inside.
A comfortable hydrofoil trip to the Summer Palace gardens where the packed lunch was perfectly adequate. As the weather was slightly damp Anna shortened our stay in the gardens, by common agreement.
A short stop in a good souvenir shop, with coffee and vodka tasting, then on to Catherine's Palace for the final stop of the tour. By this time the crowds were evident so it was a bit of a wait to get in and slow progress through the rooms. But plenty toadmire on the exterior of the beautiful palace while we waited. Towards the end of the tour we were getting a little pressed for time but Anna managed to steer us through the crowds more quickly.
The new motorway and bridge made the return to the ship quicker than expected and we arrived back in time for embarkation.
We thoroughly recommend this tour, Anna the guide and Viator the company as an efficient and well organised tour operator.
Thanks to all
Beautiful fountains and grounds at Peterhof. It would be a shame to go to St. Petersburg and not visit Peterhof.
Hermitage is well worth the cost of the entire tour. Sorry we didn't have more time.
Choosing a tour was a challenge as we were unsure of what we wanted and there were so many choices. This tour seemed to highlight all of the most important things to see. It is a great value as we were able to see more in one day than many of our friends saw in two. We had a great tour guide and driver. Alex speaks clear English and was extremely knowledgeable. He was able to adapt his presentation to older people as well as children, keeping everyone's interest. We enjoyed many of the lesser known facts he shared with us at each location that other tourists may not have learned. I would highly recommend this tour and guide! My kids and I want to rate the experience 6 stars!
The tour guide Ksenya was amazing. She was energetic, patient and went out of her way for every single location for my 2 children. She kept them interested through the museums and explained everything in their language. She took photos for us and was just lovely. Great day with Ksenya. Thank you.
St. Petersburg in only 1day is almost impossible, but this local tour operator made it happen! The pick up was easy, we were only 6 in a nice van, our driver was safe and our guide wonderful. We started off with photos around the city, then a visit to one of the subway stations which was impressively clean and full of art. We had time before the scheduled visit to the Hermitage so went to a great gift store which I would generally hate, but it was low-key and had good stuff, including vodka. We had 1.5 hours in the Hermitage, far too short of course, but it gave us a feel for the magnificent building and its collections. At noon, we took the hovercraft to Petershof to see the beautiful gardens and enough to make me want to return. We were provided with a really decent lunch in a small restaurant and then drove back to the ship in rush hour. It was a long and action packed day but really well planned and great value? Many thanks, TJTravel!
