What You Can Expect

St Petersburg Shore Excursion: Private Moscow Day Trip Including Flight and Train

Explore Moscow's most famous attraction: the Kremlin

Greet your driver at the picturesque Port of St Petersburg and climb aboard an air-conditioned minivan destined for the airport. Board your plane and spend 80 minutes relaxing in the air before touching down and revitalizing with a steaming hot drink in the city.

Next, stroll through Alexander Gardens and gaze at a Russian Changing of the Guard ceremony, a performance steeped in ancient tradition. Hear of the history of Red Square as you wander through the renowned enclave, and then capture the magnificent façade of St Basil’s Cathedral on camera.

Enrich your knowledge of Russia’s former KGB era as you pass the former headquarters; stare at the tapered spires of the ‘seven sisters’ skyscrapers as you amble down Arbat Street; and delight in the elaborate architecture of Lomonosov Moscow State University.

Then, descend to Moscow’s subterranean metro stations to admire the artistic arrays of chandeliers, statues and mosaics that resonate with grandeur. Revitalize with a Russian lunch (own expense) and the head to the Kremlin, a political powerhouse famed for its vibrant architecture. Marvel at gilded cathedrals and stare at Tsar’s Bell before being mesmerized by the glittering collection of Russian treasures in the Armory.

Travel by car to Leningradsky Station and bid your guide farewell before stepping onto the high-speed train. Relax during the 4-hour journey back to St Petersburg, where the tour concludes.

Please note: this shore excursion should not be booked to take place on your final day in port.

Sergei was wonderful. We could not believe the knowledge he had about all things Moscow. We especially loved the Kremlin. Such a massive area to visit. Sergei met us at the plane as we arrived in Moscow, guided us through the whole day and saw that we got on the right train train car and seats. He made the trip to Moscow ever so enjoyable. He showed us several Moscow subway stations so that we could appreciate the artwork in each one. He even gave us tips about what to expect on the hi-speed train ride free food back to St. Petersburg! If you can - get Sergei as your guide...

Everything about this trip was amazing - from the flight to Moscow, standing in Red Square looking at St. Basil's, the high speed train back to St. Petersburg - it was a memorable day for sure.

This is the most fantastic tour you will ever take. Despite the cruise ship company telling us we needed an independent visa if we didn't take one of their shore excursions, the tour company insisted their tour covered the visa so we placed ourselves in their hands. What a wonderful decision that turned out to be. We were met outside the Port Immigration area and taken by car to the airport where we were safely checked in for our flight to Moscow. When we arrived our guide - Mikhail - was waiting for us and we caught the train into the city the train is much quicker than driving and you get to see so much of the outer suburbs of Moscow. When we arrived in the city our car was waiting and we spent the day seeing the wonderful sights of Moscow. The Kremlin, Red Square, The Armoury, the Tsars Jewels and fantastic Faberge Eggs, St Basil's Cathedral and the wonderful subways. We saw and experienced so much I can't believe it was all done in one day! Later that night, Mikhail saw us onto the high speed train back to St Petersburg where our car and driver were waiting to take us back to the ship. You would expect some little hiccup during such a tour but everything went perfectly. Do not miss this trip!

itinerary said we would take 2hour flight but stuck in train for 4 hours ( be more clear). Traffic in Moscow is really bad, we were stuck in van for 3 hours because they took us to places were we didn and #39;t want to go. Tour guide finally listened so she went from ok to very good.
