The local guide was fantastic, very knowledgeable and passionate about their city. It was one of the best tours I've been on. I would thoroughly recommend this tour to anyone.
Silvantna was outstanding.
We saw everything we wanted to see and more
Our trip was booked through Viator with a tour guide company called MaxiBaltTours. We were told that the maximum party would be 10 people and we would be guide around by an experienced guide. Our experience was on coming down the ships footway to find a MaxiBaltTour guide waiting for us and informing us there would be just the two of us to be escorted on our two-day tour. Our guides name was Mikhail Yuryevich, who was to use just one word Brilliant. Our transport was a leather seated people carrier from which we hardly had to walk further than 40 yards to get to each venue.
Most people on our cruise had not heard of Viator and were slightly sceptical about booking Russian guides in Britain but were also keen to hear of our experience. When we told them of all the places that we had visited in the two days and of our absolute endorsement of Viator and MaxiBaltTours they were keen to write down details of how to book them for future visits to St Petersburg.
Wonderful! Well organised, brilliant guide, really made the 2 days in St Petersburg worthwhile.
Our tour guide, Marianna, was outstanding in every respect. She was professional, knowledgeable, efficient, polite, friendly and spoke perfect English. The site visits were timed perfectly and we didn't waste any time waiting. We couldn't imagine a more enjoyable, educational and productive visit to St Petersburg.
we had two different guides and both were excellent!
Russia is different ... arriving in a large cruise ship we lined up for well over an hour to clear through immigration but then that is part of the Russian experience. Our choice had been to take the ship's shore excursion or that offered by Viator ... and my wife and I are so very glad we took the Viator option. Clearing immigration we were quickly met by our tour guide and taken to the bus ... not the standard 55 seater where you need headphones just to hear the guide, but a person bus with just three other couples on board. The beauty of the Viator tour was its flexibility. When we arrived at the Hermitage, bad weather had meant there were hundreds of people lined up, many from our ship. Our guide immediately bypassed the Hermitage and took us to the next site with the Hermitage put later on the program. End result, we simply seemed to miss the crowds, got in quickly and had plenty of time to explore each site with our guide. It felt personal and private and, as a result, we managed to get into many sites that the cruise excursion did not, especially the Church of Our Saviour of the Spilled Blood. Being a small group the tour was self paced with the only deadline being the time we had to be back on the ship for departure on the second day. You wont regret booking a Viator excursion in Russia.
Excellent.Booked with Viator before they are very reliable .
The two day trip was 5 star without a doubt. Our tour guide, Mikhail Glushkolf, was the best. His knowledge of the city was outstanding.

This was an excellent tour and much cheaper than the equivalent provided by our cruise company. We were a group of 17 and we were greeted by our guide Anna and shown to our bus. From the moment she started to provide us with information you could tell this was going to be a great trip. This is a busy tour and being in a small group, along with Anna's guidance, helped get us through the turnstiles and into each venue quickly. No long treks from coach parks as the mini bus could get right up close to each visit. The scenery was stunning and along with Anna's information proved to be a very informative and interesting trip. Anna was brilliant and she even had to deal with one of our party needing medical attention and needing to go to hospital. She even kept us informed of their condition throughout the afternoon of the trip. Helped by Elijah the driver Anna got us to places quickly but did not skimp on information or time at each location. The trip round the Hermitage was stunning along with Catherine Palace and other sites. A three course lunch is provided each day and was typical Russian fare which was very enjoyable. Bottles of water were also provided as part of the cost which was very good. This is the first time I have used Viator and booked for a party of six people who were all very impressed with Anna's knowledge and professionalism. I will definitely be using Viator again for trips abroad, it will save me a lot of money but will provide the same, if not better, experience.
