Donna and I are history buffs, so a tour of the Palace of Felix Yusupov was a must see. For those of you not familiar with the history of the Romanov's, Yusopov was a wealthy Russian man who wanted to be friends with the Romanovs and developed a hatred of their suspicious friend, Grigory Rasputin. Yusopov murdered him. The palace tour was excellent, and through much of the tour, we had the palace to ourselves timing is everything! Our guide Tatyana was very good, knowledgeable, and friendly. She took photos of us when we wanted, and we could stop here and there to see particular things or to use the bathrooms or get snacks. We didn't feel rushed, we got to linger over this historic place.

Although I'm sure we could have done it on our own, St. Isaac Cathedral is a must see in Saint Petersburg. It is a huge cathedral that dominates the St. Petersburg skyline. We very much enjoyed seeing it. After our guide left us this was the final stop on this tour, she showed me where I could get tickets for the Observatory. I went up on my own, as my girlfriend Donna is afraid of heights. The views are worth the 292 steps if you aren't afraid of heights!
