What You Can Expect

Night Kayak Tour in St Thomas

Kayak around Frenchman's Reef!

Make your way to the Marriott Frenchman's Reef Resort to meet your kayaking guide and small group of 18 people or less.
Try out your clear-bottomed double kayak with your partner and learn some paddling techniques from your guide before taking to the water. Glide into the inky night toward Pirate's Cove. Your see-through kayak is retrofitted with a ring of powerful LED lights that create a 5-foot (1.5-meter) halo for viewing creatures swimming below. Enjoy the peaceful ambiance of being out on the water once all the sun-seeking daytime activity has died down.
Flying fish, sea turtles and stingrays are all active at night, so keep an eye out for those shadowy forms in the clear water. Look out for fruit bats swooping over the surface of the water as your guide fills you in on the history and ecosystem of Charlotte Amalie Harbor. The shallow reefs here are feeding locations for all of the surrounding sea's nocturnal animals, so you'll see plenty of activity.
After 1.5 hours, return to the Marriott, where your nighttime adventure ends.

Went with a group of 5 for this experience. We heard we should change our time at 9:30pm to an earlier time so we could see the light show. Wow!! So glad we did. We changed to 8:30pm and seeing the light show was opulence. The only word to describe it. We honestly didn't see much for water life...but the light show made it worth it. Dillan was our tour guide. He was very friendly, helpful, patient and a good sense of humor. Would recommend this to others coming to the USVI for a visit.

I didn't want to do it, because I am scared of fish. I felt very safe, and had so much fun. I am so glad I was talked into it.

Not only did we see sleeping sea turtles and active sea turtles, but we got to watch a Jack following a Manta Ray, and several fish dining on minnows that were attracted to our lights. The guide was wonderful, and we got a very interesting view of the sea at night!

This is a MUST DO! Stich, Emma and Mike were so helpful to answer every question the group had. Great history of the island given along with the view! Thank you!

Mehhhh... My expectations were high but we hardly saw anything. Tour guides told dumb dad jokes the whole time. Not worth $50

Pretty disappointed, did not see as much as we had hoped. Too many on tour with a lot of people not knowing how to kayak. However, guides were very knowledgeable and engaging.
