Enjoy convenient pickup at the St Thomas cruise ship port or your hotel (if option selected) to start your 4-hour shore excursion.
At the kayaking base, get fitted for a kayak and safety gear. Listen to a short safety orientation, then launch into the clear, blue water. Kayaking distance is approximately 1.5 miles (2.4km), which takes about 45 minutes with several rest breaks. This excursion is suitable for intermediate kayakers or fit, motivated beginners. Don the provided equipment and wade into the water for a short snorkeling lesson with your guide. At a cay, your guide will wade out into the water to lead you over a colorful reef and a ship-wreck which lies below.
Back on land, sit down for a picnic lunch. After lunch, return to your kayaks and paddle back to the base, assisted by the ocean current and the tropical breeze.
Your tour ends with drop-off at the cruise port or your hotel (if option selected).
We booked this directly instead of a cruise shore excursion and we had a wonderful time. Contacted by text messaging, it was easy to get picked up right by the pier and taken to our kayaks. Only another couple in our group for an intimate experience. Delicious lunch provided too! Highly recommend!
Sven was awesome and so knowledgeable! Very personalized tour, he showed us exactly what we wanted to see. Very good value.
Sven and Michelle - Great couple, great tour.
The other couple on the tour took the boat out to the island so it was just us and Sven Kajaking. I didn't want to get my hopes up about the turtles, but we saw 4 or 5. Lunch was delicious, and the snorkeling was the best I've done throughout the Caribbean so far. Lots of coral, different fish, and we even saw squid or cuttlefish?.
I do have to say two things:
1. Remember, this is about 45 min of Kayaking to the island, maybe 20 min of snorkeling with the turtles, another 15 min of Kayaking to the snorkeling spot, maybe 45 min of snorkeling where you are partially swimming against the current, and then about 45-60min kayaking back. You need to be pretty fit, if you want to do both the kajaking and snorkeling.
2. Do not forget to reapply your sunscreen! Trust me, I am speaking from experience.
Although you do get longsleeve neoprene shirts to wear for snorkeling, which helps a little.
Aside from the neoprene shirts, they also supply you with plenty of water, and they take awesome photos for you much better than the ones I took with my underwater camera!
Thank you, Sven and Michelle for this wonderful memory.
This excursion was probably the favorite part of our whole vacation. I have done a lot of snorkeling excursions but never with sea turtles. Sven was very knowledgable about the island and all of the underwater life we were seeing. He also had an underwater camera and took photos throughout the entire excursion. The food at honeymoon beach was surprisingly delicious and the portions were huge! I would do this excursion again if we ever come back to visit!
This was a great tour. Sven was very knowledgeable and his equipment was top notch! He took us to two different coves. The first was Honeymoon Beach Cove. After some rugged kayaking he had us relax with some swimming. We then had a nice lunch. After lunch we went snorkeling and saw many species of sea fish. He would explain the fish in detail. We then got to snorkel with some green sea turtles. They were a delight. After some time in this cove we then paddled to the next cove. This cove used to hold a luxury hotel resort. Sven explained that hurricane Hugo tore the cove apart. The water in this cove was crystal clear. We spent a lot of time in this cove and saw a lot of nature. The last part was the paddle back to the start. Sven a professional photo and video equipment and let us know he would send a link to the photos and videos he took. My wife and I thought he would charge us extra for this but the link took us to his FB page to enjoy the media he took for free! I would highly recommend this tour. Sven was great and it may have been one of our best excursion experiences! THNAK YOU SVEN!!
