Snorkel at Buck Island on this small-group tour from St Thomas. Limited to only 6 participants, this 4-hour tour on a fully-equipped catamaran takes you to the Buck Island National Wildlife Refuge to go snorkeling and explore the underwater landscape. Swim with stingrays, jellyfish and sea turtles, then stop at two other popular spots: Christmas Cove and Happy Island before returning to the marina.
Find your way to the southeast side of St Thomas and meet your boat at the Compass Point Marina. Climb onboard to meet your knowledgeable captain and crew, then settle in to enjoy the ride. The 32-foot (10-meter) catamaran is fully equipped for your comfort, so feel free to lounge in the sun or search out a shady spot at the back of the boat. Watch the St Thomas' coast drop away as the catamaran sails towards Buck Island National Wildlife Refuge, about 3 miles (5 km) south.
Stop at Happy Island along the way for your first dip in the water. Don the provided mask, flippers and snorkel and dive in. Look for conch and jellyfish in the clear, calm waters and feel free to swim right up to the island for a stroll on the beach. Watch where you step ― Happy Island is famous for its hundreds of hermit crab residents.
Climb back aboard the catamaran and head towards Buck Island, where you'll dive in again to swim with sea turtles on this protected coral reef.
Next stop, Christmas Island, which is a popular hangout for the area's placid stingrays. Swim around the reef amongst schools of tropical fish before hopping back on the boat to dry off and eat a packed lunch if you brought one with you. On the way back to the marina after your 4-hour adventure, relax, bask in the sun and enjoy the scenery.
