Receive a morning pickup from your Cape Town region hotel, after which you’ll travel up South Africa’s N2 highway heading for the Cape lands region. In recent years the area has become known around the world for its top-notch wines, fascinating history, and growing gourmet food scene.
Start the trip in Stellenbosch, a historic town known for its shady, oak tree-lined streets and network of Dutch-style canals. You’ll have more time to “sample” the spectacular atmosphere of this unique town when you head to nearby Waterford Estate for your day’s first wine tasting.
After leaving Stellenbosch, proceed to Franschhoek, a city founded in the 17th century by South Africa’s French “Huguenot” settlers. Franschhoek is also known as an epicenter of the country’s gourmet food culture, and you’ll have time to stop here and sample the skills of the area’s expert chefs for lunch (own expense). Pair your tasty midday meal with a second wine tasting.
Finish the day by heading to Paarl, known as the Winelands’ main area for farming and its striking granite dome landscape. You’ll enjoy one final tasting session at a Paarl wine estate before heading back to Cape Town, where you’ll arrive at your hotel at 5:30pm.
