What You Can Expect

Alsace Wine Route: Half-Day Tasting Tour from Strasbourg

Visit the village of Obernai on your half-day wine tour

Begin your morning or afternoon Alsace wine tour in Strasbourg, where you’ll meet your guide and climb into an awaiting 8-passenger minivan. Travel along a gorgeous road known locally as the Route des Vins d’Alsace, or the Alsace Wine Route. Follow this 105-mile (170 km) route as it winds through rolling hills near the Vosges Mountains through land that contains hundreds of famous Alsatian wineries.

The first stop on your tour is in the town of Obernai, with its characteristic German-style half-timbered buildings and pretty cobblestoned streets. Join your guide for a walking tour of the town, ending at a local winery to sample some of the region’s wine.

Find out how the soil, climate, and sun combine to create the perfect conditions under which the Alsace region produces world-renowned white wines. Taste most of the seven grape varietals that are grown in the area, including gewürztraminer and Riesling, noting how complex and different the flavors can be.

Get back on the Alsace Wine Route to end up at your next stop, a wine tasting in a classic Alsatian wine cellar (caveau). Find out why cellars such as this provide the ideal environment for the aging and storing of wine.

After the visit to the wine cellar, enjoy the scenery out of the minivan windows as you make your way back to Strasbourg.

Pauline was absolutely fabulous!! She was friendly, intelligent and very accommodating. She went out of her way to make us feel welcome and our tour in Strasbourg memorable! We would recommend her to anyone!

We would also like to send praise to the two wineries/wine-tasting facilities that we went to during our tour. They were kind and patient with our requests and questions, while offering myriad samples of their local wines.

If you're looking for an authentic taste of Strasbourg and Alsatien wines, this is a fantastic option for you, as well as their other tour options.

Great tour! We loved it! Our tour guide was Pauline, it was a personal and a very enjoyable tour. There was no one else but me and my spouse so we got a private tour we went out of season. Good wine in good company. It was wonderful to get to see the wine cellars. Half-day is very good if you are a winetasting/winetour beginner.

Excellent tour. Our guide and van driver, Pauline, was very friendly and knowledgeable and spoke excellent English. We enjoyed the ride through beautiful country and tasted 6 wines at each of 2 stops. At the first stop, we also enjoyed Alsatian bread.
