Find your way to Stockholm's Central Station to meet your guide and group, then climb aboard and travel into the surrounding countryside. Stop first a replica of a Viking farm (seasonal; Saturdays April to October, Wednesdays June to August) to learn about life on a working Viking farm from the onsite guide.
At the Viking parliament, imagine the powerful leaders making important decisions on that very spot. Cross the 495-foot (150-meter) Jarlabanke's bridge, built by the powerful Viking leader centuries ago. Listen to a message written on a rune stone that flanks the bridge in Old Norse. At Broby, a Viking graveyard, learn about the only identified Viking woman's skeleton in Sweden, well-known as Estrid.
Stop for lunch in Vallentuna (own expense); your guide will make some restaurant suggestions.
Continue on to Markim-Orkesta, a pair of historic countryside parishes, where you'll see the Orkesta rune stone. Stop at a local farm to see some of the Icelandic horses, then make another stop at the Nordian Burial Mound, the largest in Stockholm county.
The day's final stop is in Sigtuna, a historic village, where you'll follow your guide on a 60-minute walking tour. Take a break for 'fika' or coffee and a snack, then spend an hour of free time exploring the town on your own.
Return to the city for drop-off at your departure point.
